Would you send your child?

We left a Primary school in a certain area. Still have house there.
Financially little option but to return.
BUT... the HIgh School (which has a good name) 'doesnt offer' ICT.
At all. (older kids can go to college if they wish)
I have an ASD child who lives for ICT. He will be frustrated by any High School ICT as he is so advanced - but is it crazy to send him somewhere that doesnt offer it at all? (and how can they?)

They may not offer the qualification because they feel it doesn’t offer what people who want to do IT need? Doesn’t mean there no provision for IT being incorporated into other subjects.

ICT as a subject does not exist anymore due to GCSE reforms, ask if they offer Computer Science, which sounds like it will be a better fit for your child anyway.

when we asked why they said: 'oh we tried it, but it didn't really work'

It seems such an essential subject to me?

ICT doesn’t exist & there is a shortage of Computer Science teachers.

You have to decide how important it is to your child. Dd decided that she could live with her school not offering C.S. as long as she could do music.

Ds decided he could live with no drama as long as he had music & Computer Science.

Both would have changed schools if music wasn’t in offer.

Not essential at all really anymore. Whatever they learn in ICT in the classroom is already out of date by the time they enter the workplace

No they dont offer Computer science either.

If your DS might want to do Computer Science at college, then look at the local college's entry criteria. If they require a Computer Science GCSE, then yes it's an issue and I would look elsewhere.

If it's not a requirement then I'd look for local code clubs to supplement his school learning.
