freelance working around kids in the hols - tips??

I'm a freelancer LP with no support. First summer hols and inevitably finding fitting work in around my kid very difficult. I will book a few holiday club days next year. I work from home on laptop.

However as it transpires I have urgent projects to get done in a couple of hours while my 5yo gets very frustrated.

It's so stressful as the work needs to be done (working in evenings is usually too hard as exhausted) but my kid is getting very frustrated! Also my clients are!!

Anyone got any tips/?

Well so far my best tip to myself has been counting down so probs not much help!!? 😂😂 Other tips are setting up toys to play with, drawing, tablet and a movie with lots of (health-ish) snacks! Watching with interest tho as while the above has worked ok for My 5yr old occupying the 3yr old is muuuuuch harder....

Childcare, I'm afraid. It's the only way, whether it be grandparents, a childminder, holiday clubs, a nanny, friends. They get better as they get older (I can work from home without much disruption from my 2 - now 13 & 11), but at 5, they would have definitely needed to be away from me.

Ah, but yes, short term solutions include using the TV/electronics as a babysitter with enough snacks to keep them going for a couple of hours. Or beg a friend to have them for a couple of hours?

oh god it's so hard isn't it??

Anyone else go mad trying to balance the two? Childcare next year definitely required.

Either my clients are whining or my child is and I can't keep both happy!
