You know you're tired when...

So I'm walking home from work (long shift) dropping tired, my bed is calling me and as I'm walking I look down and see a little hedgehog.
It's very cute.. I bend down starting taking to the little guy.
Now where I see him it's urban so I start to worry about him.
There I am frantically googling 'how to safely pick up hedgehog' 'what do hedgehogs eat?'
Then I thought, he hasn't moved much I'll just touch him with my toe to make sure he's alright (dh wouldn't appreciate me bringing home something dead, he'll think I turned into a cat) to find it's a bit of fucking moss!

In my defence it was a big cute piece of moss.. I'm going bed now

Grin this is amazing. I once accidentally scooped up a hedgehog when I dropped a load of clothes trying to carry too much shit from the car. Went back and picked them up and something made a really loud noise! They're so bloody loud!! Immediately put it all down again, got my torch on my phone on and lifted up gingerly to see a very disgruntled hedgehog run off it was Huge!!

They can also run pretty fast too!

listsandbudgets · 28/08/2018 04:58

I had no idea hedgehogs were noisy and speedy.. changes my perception of them

Zoflorabore · 28/08/2018 05:14

You tell the taxi driver you love them....

Yep. Instead of "thank you" I said "love you"
And he was a lovely elderly gentleman and said it backGrin

Angie169 · 28/08/2018 06:14

If anybody has a spare hedgehog can I adopt it for a bit as my house is overrun by bloody slugs.
Couple of weeks ago I went to stroke my neighbours big black cat that was sat in my garden only to find it was a empty bin bag.

You know when you're tired when you have to reread OP post twice before you remember what you going to write .

Pissedoffdotcom · 28/08/2018 06:39

When you go downstairs (flat) to put the bins out...only to have left the bin bags uptairs & come out empty handed. The stupid thing was i went up to fetch them & still came down without them. DP did the bins

Got a cold so didn't fall asleep until 1am. Baby woke up screaming at 4. We've been up ever since. Little madam slept through to half 8 at grandma's yesterday but apparently feels the need to remind us she's back.

BringOnTheScience · 28/08/2018 07:10

When DC1 was in NICU I was expressing. I had a precious few mls ... which I propmtly tipped down the sink when I went to wash the pump bits.

And Yes to hedgehogs being loud! Hedgehog courtship is very noisy indeed Blush

Bobbiepin · 28/08/2018 07:12

@Bringonthescience I would have cried!

Marmite27 · 28/08/2018 07:17

Who ever said don’t cry over spilt milk, didn’t spill breast milk!

Bringonthescience I’ve been there Flowers

StealthPolarBear · 28/08/2018 07:23

Oh science :(
Op come back, we need to know if the large pile of moss was OK?!

Pissedoffdotcom · 28/08/2018 07:27

Oh god i feel for you over the breastmilk thing!! I was so proud of myself for pumping out enough to cover the bottom of the bottle...unfortunately the excitement led to me enthusiastically knocking it all over the floor. The dog enjoyed it 😭

rogl · 28/08/2018 07:40

@Zoflorabore that is brilliant!
I've had about 4 hours sleep... I'm in charge of two under 4 today, poor things!

went to make a cup of coffee, and poured the boiling water straight into the coffee canister, rather than into the cup - there effectively ruining the entire contents of a large jar of coffee.
This was work-related tiredness, not baby-related as my kids are teens!

Talith · 28/08/2018 07:53

When I was sleep deprived I confidently took new baby out to B&Q to buy some gardening bits. Except there wasn't a B&Q near us I had seen an advert on telly and had pictured the one on the as being nearby for some unknown reason. I swear I recalled a big opening but nope had clearly dreamed it or something. Aimlessly circled the business park with my shiny new buggy and then furtively went home. My poor tired little brain.

TrippingTheVelvet · 28/08/2018 07:56

I drove straight past the collection window at McDonalds this morning after paying. Looked a right knob reversing back up the drive thru.

Pissedoffdotcom · 28/08/2018 08:46

Prepped for a 'planned power cut' at 6am this morning...hot water & cool boiled water ready for bottles, all bottles sterilised, nappies washed. Planned time came & went, no power cut. Cue me getting cross. Yeah turns out its tomorrow...

rogl · 28/08/2018 12:20

@Pissedoffdotcom if anyone asks it was a practise run Wink

Once, on holiday - so tired and perhaps a bit merry - I swore I saw a woman stood in a leather/pvc matrix style long coat in the sand dunes. Proper freaked out by it. I wear glasses and didn't have them on.... It was a black bin bag caught on an upright post flapping in the breeze....
