I think my dog is depressed.

Basically, she's stopped talking to me and lies with her back to me. She won't answer questions or respond to 'Sausages!' 'Biscuit!' etc.

She's not ill as she went to the vet for her check-up a couple of weeks ago. She needs a haircut and that might be pissing her off, but I've told her it's booked for Wednesday.

Sounds like she’s just pissed off... if I go out and come back and my dog smells another dog, she ignores me for hours 😊

Catsatrophe · 27/08/2018 21:09

Smells another dog where?

Do you mean she smells another dog on your shoes? I spritz before I come home, so if that's the case, I know what you mean.

She's definitely pissed off. It's not because I've been mingling with other dogs though.

One of mine does this a) if I am depressed or down or b) linked to season, ie, about to come in, been in or phantom territory.

Is she happy to go for her walks?

Angharad07 · 27/08/2018 21:40

I thought the same thing about my 13 month old Lab. Started giving her a little bit of food before bed in addition to her breakfast feed. She’s a different dog now, who would’ve guessed that it was hunger!!

I've just had simialr with my ca as he was pining for my pastner. He was'r eating and refused to come in the house.I was getting LOT of nasty comments from people who knew I had lost DH :( After 3 months I thought I was losing him as well when he suddenly started to eat! Has to be tins and not pouches But he is now on a full tin a day plus ad lib biscuits, Still isn't staying in but does come in briefly. I was advised by our local cat rescue (who I got him from) to use Tranquil and Herbal drops from Hyperdrug. Think they saved his life x

Interesting fourpaws I wonder if she can feel that I am down too. She's five so it's not a lack of routine diet. I'm going back to work soon after a long while off and I wonder if she knows that - I am not looking forward to it, and nor is she.

Yeah I’m like a dog magnet, all dogs love me 😂 just aswell I prefer the, to humans.
She will literally sniff every piece of clothing and then walk off and ignore me.

Catsatrophe · 27/08/2018 22:32

Sorry you lost your DH cant. I know how that feels. Lost mine ten years ago. Animals are funny little fuckers!
