What to do with birthday money

Hello,

I recently got £60 for my birthday, and my MIL made me promise I would spend it on myself - I have a terrible habit of falling into the "mummy doesn't matter" trap, making sure to get whatever DS and DH need but when it comes to something I need it's not important etc, and usually end up spending my birthday money on groceries or something!

I had decided to get a case for my crochet hooks, a yoga dvd, and some much needed bras and clothes, however then my kindle died 😢

So my question is should I go ahead with my original plan, which I was quite excited about but knowing I probably won't have money for a kindle again and therefore not knowing if I'd ever get one again. Or should I get a kindle so I can actually read the many books I have in kindle form(massive bookworm) and then try to get over my guilt of spending money on myself and get some bras and clothes in small increments over the coming months? Money isn't exactly abundant so would be something like a bra or two one month, pair of leggings the next etc though with DS birthday coming up then Christmas probably wouldn't be until new year

Doesn't help that I'm also ridiculously indecisive!

Thanks 😊 x

Get all of it. Mummy absolutely does matter!

Problem with buying a new Kindle is that all technology halves in price 10 minutes after you've bought it. At which point, you'll wish you'd bought something a bit more fun. So I'd suggest sticking with your original plan, then either try and get a 2nd hand Kindle off eBay, or get it repaired maybe?

How long have you had your kindle? Mine was 3 years old when it broke but I contacted amazon and they gave me £25 off a new one which was much welcomed!

Just put the kindle app on your phone and read it on there, everything will transfer over

What bellsbuss said. Broke my kindle years ago, never bothered replacing it as can read my books fine on my phone screen.

Thanks for your help everyone, think I will stick with my original plan 😊

Dontcallmecharlotte - very true, I just need to try and remember that more 🙊 still MIL has noticed I'm a bit rubbish at it and is on my case to make sure I live by it more 😂 and thanks for the link!

Leafyhouse - oh good idea! Didn't think of that, will have a look at second hand. Think the battery needs replacing, do you know of anywhere that will do that please?

MintedLamb - oh didn't know amazon do that! Think it's about six years so don't know, but still might be worth asking 😊

Bellsbuss and Frankie Stine - hmmm also worth investigating. Do you know if the app will display pdfs as well please?

Thanks again everyone much appreciated 😊

Not 100% sure on pdfs. When I download one it does give me the option to read it on my kindle but as I have OpenOffice I use that instead so have no idea to the quality you'd get from the app.
However it's totally free so worth giving it a go!

Can't you just download the kindle app onto your phone?
