How to personalize a school coat?

I am not from the UK so not sure how much we are allowed to personalize it, was thinking a piece of ribbon tied to the zip, or maybe an iron-on patch on the collar, would it be allowed?
How do you do otherwise to recognize your DC’s coat (and bookbag / PE bag) easily?
I know they should be on their pegs but I have a feeling they will end up all mixed up on the floor...

I did the name tags of course, but I’d like something visible from the outside.
Any ideas?

We never really bothered with the school coats, is it a must have item?

When ds was in primary, they all had key rings on their bookbags. Uniform coats just had a big sewn in label in the back of the neck (and if I was doing it now, inside the sleeve as well which I learned from MN).

Once they've started you can see what would be accepted as uniform - a reflective tag on the coat zip might be OK in some schools

Is it an official school coat? Or just any old coat from the shops? If so, look out for an embroidery shop. It costs just a couple of quid to get your DC's name on it.

I would also recommend a reflective strip sewn on.

Key rings on zips
My dc’s school does not sircufuc a uniform coat/colour, so I have always bought my dc distinctive, bright coats.

They all have the same book bag though, which we distinguish with key rings.,

School coat, so they will all have the same one.
I will try to find keyrings then!
