Where can I go on for a short break?

I really want a shirt break before I start uni again. Looking for a hotel (Travelodge is fine, anything nicer than that would be fab) somewhere quiet but with nice shops or a beach within a two hour drive of Sunderland. Two nights preferably and under £150.

Saltburn. Lovely little seaside town just south of Middlesbrough. Pier, beach, woodland walks. You can hire a beach hut for the day for £20 to £30 in September.

Thats on my bucket list. Beach hut, blanket, books, lots of tea and cake and a wander out for fish and chips.

Don't know about the hotel though, but I'm sure someone else or Google can help with that.

I know Saltburn pretty well. Lovely place. Thanks for the idea.

There are a few nice hotels but I prefer to stay in the lovely little guest houses and then eat out in one of Whitby's fantastic restaurants.
