School Shoes - are M&S ones any good?

I’ve always been a slave to Clarks. But I gather M&S do proper sizes and width fittings so am considering trying them. Have you tried them for your DCs? I have heard that they are cheaper, but do they last as long as Clarks? Thanks.

Not loads cheaper but the last pair lasted Ds all school year. Phenomenal really that his feet haven't grown!

We often get them for dds - last fine and a bit cheaper.

Both my dds have pretty standard width and shape feet though (unlike their hobbit footed mother) so are easy to fit.

We have had better wear From M&S than Clark’s and DD finds the M&S more comfy. After lasting the whole year they are still in really good condition and have passed on a new owner. We just bought her the regular and PE Ones from m&s again for this year.

My daughters were scratched through in the first week.

Her Clarks shoes lasted whole school year and were passed on afterwards.

Their narrow fit ones are still not narrow enough for my daughter who measures a d-e in Clarks however they seem good quality so would be fine if you were a "normal" size I reckon

Thanks all, off to M&S to check them out then, as DCs are usually an F fitting.

Last year we brought Clarks but they were ruined in the first week so took. Them back and brought some from M&S and they have lasted the whole year. I was really impressed. My daughter has very narrow feet so I had to try a range of different styles.

Jumping on the thread but can anyone tell me whether the soles are removable.

bostonkremekrazy · 27/08/2018 22:30

I found M&S better than clarks (who have gone downhill hugely in recent years). They also do enclosed feet for girls so thumbs up for winter shoes!

DD had the Kicker style ankle boots last year, they lasted from early December until the end of the school year. She’d be wearing them next term too if they were not too small. Very impressed. Think they were £30-35 ish, not loads cheaper than Clark’s, but the price doesn’t go up with size as much as Clark’s. We have never had Clark’s last more than a term before they fell apart and had holes in the soles.

Well, we have our M&S shoes. They loom pretty sturdy... time will tell I guess!
