Clip on school ties - girls - secondary. It looks odd. Am I doing something wrong

There's no way she'll put it on again for a photo. She checked everything fit and promptly had a sob - I think over whelmed with the next stage in life. Bless her.

So DD starts at a strict secondary next week. It has clip on ties so she has a collared shirt for the first time ever. I got M&S age 11-12. They fit just fine. Slim fit ones.

Except the collar is massive. Really baggy. So we clipped the tie over the top button (done up) and then flipped the collars out over the knot of the tie.

It pulled the shirt out and down and puckered the collars. Am I clipping the tie in the wrong place?

She is a slim girl, with a long elegant neck. Is it her body shape or rubbish M&S or is this all completely normal!

Tie stress!

Dd wears the slim fit shirts from M&S and I noticed this year the collar is huge!
