Any 1930s glamour wedding venues?

Like Cafe de Paris, but smaller and less expensive preferably?

www.cafedeparis.com/private-hire/gallery

Every venue I look at is a hotel, barn or hall and im bored to death of them. This is the closest thing I’ve found to being what I would consider, but it seems to be the only one Shock

Does anyone know of anything slightly similar?

Athena Leicester - 1930s art deco cinema.
No quite as glam, but right style and could be dressed.

That actually looks perfect. DP is a film fan, it’s one of his hobbies, so this would be fantastic.

Not sure if you're still looking for venues, or in what location/budget, but here are a few others that might suit?

www.bridesmagazine.co.uk/article/burgh-island-devon - prices have probably gone up since 2013, when this article was written, though.

www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/pick-of-season/1930s-cocktails - Eltham Palace in London was restored by the Courtaulds in the 1930s and is available for functions

Sywell Aerodrome in Northants has the Aviator Hotel, www.aviatorhotel.co.uk/wedding-venue-northampton.php

North Yorkshire has the Sun Pavilion near Harrogate, weddingplanner.co.uk/wedding-venues/north-yorkshire/the-sun-pavilion?enquire=show

Prices at Burgh Island have skyrocketed. It’s now exclusive use only I believe. Totally worth the money though.

EeeSheWasThin · 26/08/2018 16:45

I don’t know where you want to be but this is very thirties (I think they filmed an Agatha Christie there).

And in another bracket altogether price wise...

Cross post! Would love to stay at Burgh Island but no way we could afford it.

This place in London is Art Deco/Edwardian.

There’s an Art Deco cinema in Berkhamsted that is popular for wedding receptions etc

No idea about size or price, but throwing in The Midland Hotel in Morecambe:

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 26/08/2018 17:13

Thanks I’ll have a look at these! We don’t mind travelling providing its in the U.K., budget is TBC as we aren’t getting married for a couple of years but are planning it now to start saving up for what we want.

These are fantastic! Eltham Palace is beautiful.

I’m sure there’s an episode of Hercule Poirot filmed on Burgh Island! Not sure I could convince DP to spend that much though, although if I were rich that would be where we would go!

The Troxy in East London?

dontcallmelen · 26/08/2018 18:28

The Rivoli Ballroom in Brockley South East London, has been used in countless Films/Tv/music videos etc.

Toofle · 26/08/2018 18:44

Another vote for the Midland in Morecambe. Amazing place right on the seafront. Plan your wedding for a stormy day with waves lashing the prom.

polexiaaphrodesia · 26/08/2018 20:05

Brooklands Museum has a lovely Art Deco club house and loads of photo opportunities with all the vintage cars and aeroplanes www.brooklandsmuseum.com/hospitality/weddings

Windmillsinsummer · 26/08/2018 20:06

Cabaret supper club in belfast it's probably not in the right area though

EvilTwins · 26/08/2018 20:08

Was also going to suggest The Daffodil in Cheltenham.

noideawhattodonow · 26/08/2018 20:10

I think old thorns can be done Art Deco?

fanomoninon · 26/08/2018 20:14

The rivoli ballroom is gorgeous but I believe they don't do wedding receptions, unfortunately.

fanomoninon · 26/08/2018 20:18

Brooklands would be great fun too - the clubhouse is lovely, and I would imagine not too outrageously expensive (although, oh, to get married on Burgh Island - although Evil Under the Sun - the Christie that was filmed there is very dark!)
