Do zombies poo?

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 26/08/2018 14:55

Just watching the latest series of The Walking Dead and it occurred to me, if they eat people and animals, they must poo? Except that they are dead and decomposing, so surely their digestive systems don't work?

Obviously this is a very important topic, so I need everyone to apply themselves to this asap. Like, now.

Also, I will attempt to get out more.

@LBOCS2 In R R Hayward's Undead books they do.

LBOCS2 · 26/08/2018 19:40

I'm rereading them @iklboo - on day 7 again, so I still have The Poo Incident to come 😁 Have you read the Extracted series? They're also SO GOOD.

iklboo · 26/08/2018 19:42

I've only read up to Day 7 so far - I read Extracted series first. Absolutely LOVE them!

silkpyjamasallday · 26/08/2018 19:53

This thread is great, I've never contemplated it before, but now I am confident on the subject of zombie toilet habits.

@amusedbush DP calls it 'thumbing in a squidgy' Envy

Lynne1Cat · 26/08/2018 19:55

Yes, and the Tooth Fairy eats cake. Santa Claus like beer.

Get out a LOT more

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/08/2018 20:10

I’m going to be watching the next series of TWD and looking for groaning awkward zombies. Grin

LBOCS2 · 26/08/2018 20:14

Get out a LOT more

🙄 Strangely, people are able to enjoy different things. It's what accounts for the unfathomable popularity of Love Island. How dare we have interests outside the norm?

Come the zompoc we'll be the ones laughing...

Flashingbeacon · 26/08/2018 20:18

I am so pleased the no blood=no stiffy didn’t pass everyone by. Made the whole thing unbelievable for me Grin

I didn’t know (hadn’t thought about) zombies were actually infected with a virus. That kinda makes sense. So there’s not an overall plan, just mass infection. Does anyone not get infected? Develop immunity?

LBOCS2 · 26/08/2018 20:21

Depends whose universe you're in @Flashingbeacon. Lots of the time it's unexplained. In TWD, it's an airborne virus which is activated when people die and/or bitten. In most others it's an infection like HIV - spread through bodily fluids, which kills and then reanimates. In 28 Days Later they're not technically zombies, they're just infected with the Rage virus. In one book series I've read the infection has a hive mind thing going on. Some are fast, some are slow.

mycelialnetwork · 26/08/2018 20:23

Watching izombie I have had these exact thoughts. The lack of blood/circulation hadn't occurred to DH at all Hmm I was glad to draw it to his attention Grin

MichonnesBBF · 26/08/2018 20:36

loving this thread, especially as a Walking Dead Fan (see user name).
My OH is always telling me that a zombie apocalypse could never happen to that extent as maggots and rats would literally eat them to death (again) without the brain they are non functioning.

I still have and will continue to day dream about how I would survive any apocalypse.

runsmidgeOMG · 26/08/2018 20:51

I think the zombie who was assumed to have eaten Lorie after her botched section (good try carol!) looked very bloated and well fed before Rick stabbed him to smitherines

HTH 🧟‍♀️

MissKummerspeck · 26/08/2018 20:54

ILiveInSalemsLot · 26/08/2018 20:58

I don’t get why zombies need to devour humans or blood or whatever it is they are devouring.
They’re dead. Why do they need sustenance?

sittingonacornflake · 26/08/2018 21:00

@ILiveInSalemsLot I was wondering this too.

Maybe to give them the energy they need to grunt and shuffle to the next victim? A pointless loop but then arguably so is life!

LBOCS2 · 26/08/2018 21:10

I think it's to spread the infection, the same as most infections - but the best way to do that, if it's salivary, would be to bite? So presumably it just gives the urge to bite uninflected fldsh.

vampirethriller · 26/08/2018 21:19

On the subject of "thumbing in a floppy," I knew a woman once who called it "picking a lock with a ball of wool."
Back to zombies, it annoys me in the Walking Dead that they all seem to have died whilst wearing blue work clothes or at best a white blouse. Nobody ever died in a nice suit.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 26/08/2018 21:45

runsmidge - ooh yes, I remember that bloated walker! He was WELL sated, wasn't he? I reckon they did that for effect; he's the only bloated zombie I've ever seen. Not that I've been paying THAT much attention...

TheGoatSaysHello · 26/08/2018 21:48

It was Maggie who performed the C-section on Lori, not Carol.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 26/08/2018 22:37

Does anyone else work out the exits and nearest likely weapon source in a crowded place? Grin

icebearforpresident · 26/08/2018 23:04

DH and I have been watching fear the walking dead on amazon and had the ‘zombie survival plan’ conversation the other day. I told him to grab the kids and run, I’m going down quick (horribly unfit) and as a type 1 diabetic I’m not going to last long either way. I weirdly take comfort in that.

icebearforpresident · 26/08/2018 23:06

But back to zombie poo, yes. The zombie that ate Lori in TWD was all bloated, fat and couldn’t move. Didn’t Rick cut it open to look for evidence it was her or have I made that up?

AllAboutTheStuff · 26/08/2018 23:16

This bothers me quite a bit, surely they can’t poo. If they did you would see them all walking round in shitty trousers. Why aren’t more of them laying about all fat and bloated like the one who ate Lori?

runsmidgeOMG · 27/08/2018 05:40

@BigbreastsBiggerbeard

I think you're probably right !!! I think he was made to look purposefully like one of those faces you just wanna punch given the circumstances!

sittingonacornflake · 27/08/2018 07:25

Also, do vampires wee? I mean they drink A LOT of blood!
