What to do in Florida for a day?

Have booked a cruise departing from Florida but the flight options mean we’ll be getting there the day before the boat departs. Similarly on the last day we have 9 hours to kill before we leave for the airport.

DC doesnt like theme parks and would rather not visit the beach (have a week of port/ beach visits). Also needs to be local to port carnaval. Was thinking maybe the Kennedy space centre but not sure dc would have much interest in it. Is there anything else anyone can recommend doing?

Whereabouts in Florida?
If you are near Orlando, GatorLand was a surprisingly good day out.

Cape carnavel. So anything along the space coast really. Looked at going more towards Orlando but it’s at least an hour away and I wasn’t planning on hiring a car.

Space Centre is fabulous! We took DC when they were 7 and 8 and they loved it!

Cocoa Beach is there and it's nice, there's a pier with nice little shops and restaurants and bars on it. There's also a mall called Merrit Island Mall if you want to browse round the shops a bit. Orlando was 40 minutes away by car not an hour so could be worth going.
