Baby sleepovers

Ok I've seen this on so many threads and just have to ask what is the deal with people wanting to take other people's babies for sleepovers?

I mean I understand having extended family to stay, I understand offering to look after a baby so the parents can go out but what's up with all these people feeling entitled to baby sleepovers when the parents don't want it?

Also surely once you are past the baby night waking stage the last thing you would want to do is go back to it?

No idea!
I can understand parents being tired and wanting a break, or needing to stay overnight in hospital or at a wedding but I can't imagine asking someone for their baby overnight just for the fun of it!

Older kids yes, though I don't think my dgm ever asked, more like me and my cousin just decided we were sleeping over!

Obviously for older kids it a sleepover with a much loved DGM is a great way to boost independence but I don't see the benefit for a baby.
