Silver jewellery always tarnishes on me!

Yet it doesn’t seem to on other people?

Silver necklaces and stud earrings after only a few wears go a dark grey rather than their nice shiny silver original colour. I’ve tried doing the thing where you put the silver items in a pan with tin foil and bicarbonate of soda but it doesn’t work enough. Anything else I can do?

Duraglit silver polish.

Silver polishing cloths. Silver will naturally tarnish of not cleaned regularly. I used to work in a jewellers so had to do this.

Have you changed any of your products?

Some shampoos and cleansers contain sulphur and sulphur causes tarnishing; if you're using those it can speed it up.

Do you wear perfume? And spray it on to the silver? Jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.

Was it by any chance rhodium plated? And the plating had worn off?

And how do you store your jewellery?

Jeweller tarnished when in contact with air. You can store it in anti-tarnish bags (small plastic bags with a seal and you can squeeze the air out).

Get a polishing cloth and use that after or before each wear.

Happens to me too. Silver jewellery goes black within a few hours of wear.

Then it irritates my skin causing a red rash. I can't wear silver earrings as they cause inflammation at the site of the piercing.

I think it's an allergy. If anyone can advise otherwise I'd be interested!

I’ll try a silver cloth. I don’t spray anything when my jewellery is on, no hairspray or perfume etc.
