Just that- in Midlands, it's raining. Me, DH, DS(4) and DD(2). I can't stay in all day, I'll go mad but can't think what to do! Please help wise MNetters!

Mine are a similar age and we are going to a children's museum. Otherwise we often go to national trust properties

Wellies on and go for a splash in the puddles?

SpaceDinosaur · 26/08/2018 09:25

Go to the supermarket with a human shopping list (each child has to remember/get something specific) then come home and cook/bake something together!

Soft play?

We are supposed to be going to a bbq - in the rain!
I’d prefer to be inside by the fire, eating and having a couple of glasses of wine.
Hopefully the bbq will be called off (I only don’t want to go because it will be cold and rainy, I like the people!) and I can do my preferred option...

But to answer your question, could you go swimming? It’s our rainy day fallback option. Or else, bundle up for a rainy walk and find a pub for a hot chocolate and crisps at some point throughout.

Rainy day walks are brilliant. Kids love splashing in puddles.
If you go somewhere with a path and lots of trees and it’s not raining too heavily, then it’s not too bad. The trees provide some shelter from the rain.
Find a museum or national trust property.

Thanks all! Had a welly walk with dog first thing. We decided on museum in the end, it was good fun.

I was struggling to come up with ideas because all I wanted to do was to curl up on sofa with a book and binge eat chocolate. Sadly not possible with the DCs!
