How to avoid a play date?

DS sometimes bumps into a boy who is a few years younger than him while DH is doing an activity. They chat for a few minutes while parents are doing their thing.

The boy’s parent has asked if DS would like to come and play some time. DS was on the spot and politely said yes but doesn’t want to at all.

So if they ask for a date, what do we do?

Bright and breezy voice, not this week we’re swamped. Don’t give any details.

Just say no, we are busy

What pp said. We’ve done this before- no big deal. Really.

Why don’t you want to go? ( being nosy!)

Can you say that again a bit differently Itchy - I’m being dense. I wouldn’t be going/deciding at all. It’s my child who doesn’t want to.
