He’s had a third surgery

I’ve had many surgeries

I’m sure we used to say operation

I agree, I don't like 'surgeries'.

Bring back operations, and of course the lovely ambiguous 'I'm having a Minor Op, I won't be in work on Tuesday' cue everyone at work asking each other what is wrong with you.

I don't think I've ever heard amyone use an object with surgery. "He's had surgery", sure, but not "he's had a surgery". I'm going to listen out for it now!
