I havnt used e bay for years, couldn't be arsed with the faff to be honest. But last week I put loads of the kids clothes on that I usually would just give to charity, loads of old and inexpensive jewelry that I never wear and some cornishware which has seen better days. I hoped to get £100 so i could buy a new Hoover. I got a hoover and some formal workwear for a new temping job I'm starting next week. Mostly Next so nothing designer but omg I can't wait to wear them. I've spent hardly anything(well in fact only the money I have made). I'm a complete convert.

Whats your biggest e bay bargain and or tip? I hope I can get a faberge egg soon for 99p and sort my credit cards out 🤣

I made £132 on EBay last week! I've got loads more stuff to go on, but I'm too tight to pay the insertion fees, so I've got to wait until September now, for another 20 free! I actually only sold about 5 things which was a bit disappointing, but one was going to be high value, so I knew I'd get at least £50 or £60.

I'm saving mine for Christmas I think.

StylishMummy · 25/08/2018 20:33

Won a genuine Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 as it was ending at 3am, for £125. Sold it on a dedicated Facebook group for £539 a week later

Mumshotel · 25/08/2018 20:35

Omg what a result with the bag. Well done you

Re the fees. Mine have been £0 apart from 2. Am I being dim and aboit to get stung?

I love ebay. Nearly all my clothes come from there. New or worn once. Top brands and I rarely pay more than £10 an item including postage!

Trollop1 · 25/08/2018 20:40

I sold a £14 pair of shoes for £130. Shock was an understatement

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 20:42

You will have to pay fees on whatever you've sold, but it won't be much. Look in your account information. It'll give you a running total. My total fees were only £7.00 I think. You get 20 free insertions a month. Anything over that is only about 35p per item I think.

Mumshotel · 25/08/2018 20:43

I'm going to be like you. I got a pair of LK Bennett shoes as i needed nude ones (go with lots) for £11.50 inc postage. I thought to myself you can't get heels in Primark for that, and I bet you can't walk in them. I've got some bids on some blouses for work and I'm getting really mean with my money ha. I'm refusing to go over £3. So with postage about £6. Not bad if you can pick up a good make. I'm learning that you do need to be on the ball and spend a fair bit of time to get the real bargains.

Oh thank you Maureen. I'll look now. I wasn't sure x

I sold 10 wire coat hangers for 9.99! No idea why it got so high. Listed for 99p and expected to achieve that.

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 20:47

9.99? What is the matter with people? Grin. Madness, but well done you!

Lanaa · 25/08/2018 20:47

If you phone eBay they will increase your selling limit. Normally to about 50 - 100 Free listings a month if you're not a business. I've made just over 2k this summer selling old unwanted things from around the house. Going to put it towards a week away somewhere fabulous in October half term.

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 20:56

Wow! That's amazing. I'm a bit worried I'll get in a mess with things if I go too mad over the 20 a month to be honest. I'm ok at the moment because I'm off for the summer, but once I'm back at school, I'll have much less time to organise post office trips etc.

Touchnotthiscat · 25/08/2018 20:56

I love eBay! I sold reusable nappies on there and they reached silly prices!
I buy Boden for my kids from there. Once got two pairs of Boden baggies for my son for a fiver. He’s never had a new pair!
OP you’ve inspired me to get selling again!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 25/08/2018 20:58

Sold a £40 Next gift card for £59.65 Hmm

Two people got into an insane bidding war! I got left great feedback and everything! The mind boggles!

abbey44 · 25/08/2018 20:58

I love eBay too - I've lost a fair bit of weight over the last year and have dropped about four or five dress sizes in that time - I couldn't keep up with that if I was buying new in the shops, so I've been buying lovely bargains on eBay (I'm quite choosy, and go for the good quality stuff), wearing them and then re-listing when I've done with them. I've usually got back roughly what I've paid, so it's just like renting. Really really cheaply Grin

It's been great seeing all the old, big, stuff selling - I've made nearly £700 in the last month alone. Plus, you can do it all from the comfort of the sofa (apart from having to go to the Post Office, of course). I don't even mind paying the fees - they're more than worth it to me.

CrazyOldBagLady · 25/08/2018 21:03

Love eBay for both buying and selling. The fees (especially Paypal) are a bit much, but I buy and sell all sorts of things there. My little boy has had some lovely stuff for a fraction of the retail price. I could probably spend the same or even less in Primark, but he does look the biz most days (makes up for me looking a right state).

Best luck I have had is actually selling furniture for more than I paid for it. I sold a bed and USED mattress for about £140 iirc. I only paid about a hundred for it when the mattress was new.

CrazyOldBagLady · 25/08/2018 21:04

I've just been reminded of an ikea table I picked up for £5. When we moved house I sold it on eBay for £20. Some morose looking guy turned up for it and told us "My mother's been drinking wine and eBaying again".

ProlificLurker · 25/08/2018 21:11

EBay have sent out an offer this weekend - maximum £1 fees on items listed this weekend I think. Might be worth looking if the offer is there on your account for you. (Read the terms and conditions though)

BarbraDear · 25/08/2018 21:11

Bought a Next beaded top for £6ish on there and didn't like it so put it back on expecting to get maybe 4 or 5 quid for it. £48 it sold for. I was confused as hell as there was the exact same top in same size for sale listed as brand new with tags for £30.

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 21:22

Ive struggled to sell all my shoes. Can't understand it. They are all almost new, no scuff marks, but no takers. Gutted actually. The whole point was that the shoes I can't wear anymore, I'd be able to sell and buy at least one new pair!

TrentBridge · 25/08/2018 21:29

I'd try saying they are used, Maureen, and I suspect you'd get more interest Envy

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 21:34

That sounds ever so slightly mucky, Trent, but I'll do that! Grin

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 21:36

They are all sparkly/glittery high heels too. Kinda the sort of thing some people want! If only I was a size 9 perhap? WinkGrin

Mumshotel · 25/08/2018 21:37

Omg! I love hearing all your good luck stories. I'm so pleased you got them. Hoping I will too, although I'm running out if stuff to sell that anyone would actually want

Omg the coathangets, that's fab
And the Next top.... hopefully if I'm too fat for what I've bought I'll make a fortune 😁
