I havnt used e bay for years, couldn't be arsed with the faff to be honest. But last week I put loads of the kids clothes on that I usually would just give to charity, loads of old and inexpensive jewelry that I never wear and some cornishware which has seen better days. I hoped to get £100 so i could buy a new Hoover. I got a hoover and some formal workwear for a new temping job I'm starting next week. Mostly Next so nothing designer but omg I can't wait to wear them. I've spent hardly anything(well in fact only the money I have made). I'm a complete convert.

Whats your biggest e bay bargain and or tip? I hope I can get a faberge egg soon for 99p and sort my credit cards out 🤣

What size are you Maureen?

@Mumshotel you've inspired me to start selling some of the things we have lying around untouched!

I have a few cookbooks that have never been read (DP is the cook!), would they be worth selling despite being so heavy? I would assume postage would be quite costly because they're so heavy (never sent a parcel in the post before so I've no idea what you even do Blush)

Do baby clothes sell ok? I've got some lovely things of DDs that I would normally give to a charity shop but if I can make a few pennies for Christmas every little helps!

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 21:51

Well, the shoes are all size 6. My feet are knackered with rheumatoid arthritis now, so at the moment I can't wear anything other than flip flops!

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 21:52

Ooopma, just follow the advise of eBay on the postage. I'll all come up when you post something to sell. It's easy.

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 21:53

Sorry, got all my letters mixed up there! Oooompa!

oooompa · 25/08/2018 21:55

Thanks @MaureenMLove I'm a complete novice! Blush

Mumshotel · 25/08/2018 22:07

Omg you need to be size 7 so i can buy ha
I think you should be ok with books as think it will just be standard parcel postage

Shock. I'm really not! Last week was the first time I've done it for years! Opened a whole new EBay and PayPal account to do it. It was on my to do list for the summer holiday.

DH buys from EBay all the time. I could never be bothered, but I decided that if I wanted to get rid of stuff and earn some extra money I had to make myself bothered!

It is very self explanatory though. Honestly, it was so easy.

Mehaveit · 25/08/2018 22:29

Oh and the treadmill I bought brand new pre Christmas that I sold used post Christmas 2 years later (fitness peak time) for MORE than it was brand new.

That said I've been stung on postage fees for other stuff (treadmill was collection only obviously!)

Mehaveit · 25/08/2018 22:31

@MaureenMLove the feedback wasn't too bad either. I was expecting huge disappointment but nope 'item as described' or similar Grin

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 22:42

Ive just re-listed a pair of shoes and a pair of boots, with careful worded titles, suggesting they are well worn, but in good condition. Perhaps that might attract a different clientele! Wink

Mumshotel · 26/08/2018 09:44

The shoes I bought were 'rarely worn' in excellent used condition. They look fab. Hope they are x

We buy and sell phones. We sell furniture and all sorts of household stuff and I sold a very expensive designer MoB wedding outfit.

@MaureenMlove
Yeah popped used on ;-)

caoraich · 26/08/2018 10:20

I find the weirdest stuff sells the best.

Someone gave me a truly hideous duvet set with cats wearing space suits on it. Still had the £12 tag on it and was by then on sale in Asda at half price.

It went for £45 in the end on eBay!!

I haven't been stung by the buyer claiming it never arrived yet, but do always send 2nd class signed for.

And yes baby clothes sell well especially as part of bundles.

MaureenMLove · 26/08/2018 10:28

Blimey! Not sure I've got the balls to go into this whole heartedly, but we'll see how these two go!

I can't wear any of my shoes because none of them fit me. I'm gutted and I love them, so if I can get some thing out of them it would be great!

ChateauRouge · 26/08/2018 10:35

I've had a long eBay silence, after receiving too many things that just weren't perfect condition, as they were described.
However, I've recently bought a few things for my children (primarily for a costume I'm putting together, so condition didn't matter too much as it will be "distressed" anyway) and I've been surprised by how good the items have been.

Am tempted to sell again now, but the post office is such a hassle.

Mumshotel · 26/08/2018 10:55

Oh my God that thread. I'm going to sell an old pair now ha

Lol - I've only just gone and got a bloody bid on my 'used' boot! Grin

BestZebbie · 26/08/2018 22:52

Most of our 0-24 month clothes were branded ones from Ebay, put straight back on Ebay again once they were grown out of, for about 75% of the outlay back. So basically we just rented it all briefly for the price of the initial postage to us, but no stress if individual things got destroyed.

QOD · 26/08/2018 23:03

Fisher price loving family dolls house furniture. I paid $8\9 a room in USA and made like £25/30 3 yrs later in UK

Paid for an excursion to Cairo from Hurgada

Mumshotel · 26/08/2018 23:05

Ha ha go Maureen. I threw my 5 year old footglove moccasins on there. I generally only wear them now to garden so they are falling apart. No bids yet. I hope they sell ha.

Yes i can see the renting thing working especially for kids stuff, plus itd surely reducing your carbon footprint. I recieved a bag that I bid on ... tula by radley. It's just not me so I've popped it back on. Bit of a waste of money if I don't get what I paid, but like my motto in life 'somethings better than nothing'

Toys can go for so much! I can't believe what I've chucked in the charity shop over the years. I could have been sat on a little plastic goldmine
