Son licking

My son keeps licking people and things. He only used to do it to me but now he's doing it to his siblings as well. I'm worried he might do it to other people. He's having assessments for special needs.

Obviously not knowing anything about the situation... I’m guessing you’ve asked/ told him to stop. And that hasn’t worked.
How old is he? What sort of special needs?

All I can suggest is you distract him/ give him something more appropriate to lick.

If you can give more detail people might have some ideas.

I do appreciate this must be stressful, and maybe all you can do is explain to people that he does have special needs and sensory issues?

Also there are special need board on mumset . Which are really good and helpful.

How old is he? My son went through a licking phase when he was 2. It didn't last long and he has no special needs.

My dgd2 also does it but we're hoping she'll grow out of it.

DS did this on and off for years, but mostly only to me. He has ASD. I would just say no every time he did it and move away. He stopped doing it apart from very occasionally as a one off. He doesn't do it at all now.

Would it help to print off some pictures, some of things like lollipops or ice cream and some of random things including a person, and make a game where you sort them into piles of things you lick and things you don't lick?

How old is he? It could just be a phase. Especially if it gets reactions.
It might be a sign of ASD. My DD has ASD and used to lick things. It was a sensor bing for her x
