Guess that's me up for the day then.

God damn rheumatoid arthritis! Bastard thing. Massive flare in my feet and there is no chance of me getting back to sleep now. Far, far too much pain.

So, foot in bowl of water, (that was fun carrying that without dropping or spilling it, as I also have a trigger finger, to go with my severe limp!) co-codomol, which I hate and Ovaltine.

Ain't life grand?

Bless you op that sounds really sore hope you do manage to get a bit more sleep before the alarm clock goes off 💐

MaureenMLove · 24/08/2018 05:01

Thankfully, there is no alarm clock. I work in a school. I also don't have kids at home anymore, so I'll sleep whenever it comes! Lack of food in the house though, as that was my only plan for the day. Oh well, if I'm asleep, I won't need food.

I am up breastfeeding. Hopefully this isn’t us up for the day.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 24/08/2018 05:38

DS had a bad dream at 3. He came in and woke us. Now he's snoring beside me, DH is snoring in DS's bed and I'm up for the day, even though my eyes are stinging with tiredness.

Soiree · 24/08/2018 05:48

I'm up breastfeeding. The last few days she's stayed awake for hours from this sort of time onwards :(

AsteroidAsterix · 24/08/2018 06:00

Smoke alarm started beeping to let me know the batteries were going at 4.50am. Woke me and DS. Lonnnnng, wet day ahead.

Figmentofimagination · 24/08/2018 06:03

DS (15mo) was woken up by DH getting up for work at 4:15 so started crying, which means I'm now wide awake. He's still not gone back to sleep. I can hear him on the monitor moving around and getting frustrated as he wants to go back to sleep but can't. I think I might have to have a nap at the same time as him later. Cleaning the kitchen floor and the living room can wait till another day.

ilovesliz · 24/08/2018 06:44

Out of interest, OP, how old were you when you first experienced the symptoms of RA and what were your original symptoms? It runs in my family so I'm bracing myself for it.

notsogoodhousekeeping · 24/08/2018 07:35

Neighbours put their dog outside for a wee at 6am. Fine, except they then left it out there to yap and bark at nothing for half an hour.

ExBbqQueen · 24/08/2018 07:39

OpFlowers

I’ve RA & I haven’t made it out of bed today as my legs as in agony.

Dh will help me when he’s awake but it was a late night for him last night so will let him sleep.

RA sucks

I was only diagnosed last year, just before I turned 50. It's not until you look back though and realise I was suffering for a good few years.

I went to the doctors for tendonitis in my elbow, my wrist, my hip and plantar fasciitis in my feet at different times for about the last 5 years. He pieced them all together the last time in October with a blood test and there you have it.

So, I've woken up from a couple of hours sleep on the sofa and I am ridiculously stiff now. Chronic and shooting pains gone and now the stiffness.

OP posts:
MaureenMLove · 24/08/2018 16:33

How are you this afternoon @ExBbqQueen ? I've had the luxury of being able to sleep on and off pretty much all day, which of course doesn't help greatly, because I need to be gently moving my joints. Too much being still, makes them stiff again. It's a vicious circle!

My feet are bloody wrecked today. I'm not going to take anymore co-codomol, I hate the way it makes my mouth so dry and it's not doing anything for the swelling or stiffness. The pain is manageable just about now.

This is the worst they've been, ever. Sad. Hope they improve tomorrow, I've got things I want to do.

ExBbqQueen · 24/08/2018 20:17

Thank you for asking. It got better - heated blanket which usually helps. But I’ve been on a go slow. Excuse to be looked after!

I don’t take painkillers as I don’t think they help.

Flowers OP

Have you got a good consultant?

MaureenMLove · 24/08/2018 21:14

Ive got a great consultant, yes. I'm not sure the pain killer do much for me either, but they are so strong to me, they make me sleep!

I've just woken up again after a 3 hour nap. Think there might be slight improvement, so I might be ok'ish tomorrow.

Do you have any Meloxicam anti inflammatory tablets, they work wonders for me.

MaureenMLove · 25/08/2018 09:04

No, I haven't heard of them. Think I'll investigate next week. My feet are still as bad today, as they were yesterday unfortunately. Sad. I was severely sick in the night too. Can't work out why that should or could be related to the flare. Didn't eat anything out of the ordinary yesterday and didn't have anymore pain killers after lunchtime.

Slept on and off from 7pm, until 6.30 this morning and since my cup of tea is cold, I think I may have just dozed off again in the last hour!

Hugs. I have fibro and can understand.

I was up at 5am answering the door to Dd coming home!

ExBbqQueen · 26/08/2018 08:16

How are you today OP?

Cocodamol always makes me sick but it never used to do it could be that.

My heated blanket is my life saver when in the middle of a flare.

MaureenMLove · 26/08/2018 09:18

Morning. Smile. Slightly less swollen in my feet and less stiff. Still quite sore, but at least walking is not too difficult.

My finger is still triggering, but I went to bed with a bandage across all my fingers to keep it straight. It helped a bit, but it'll easily slip back if I don't keep moving it.

It's a bloody vicious circle isn't it? I need to move and flex, but it hurts to do it too much.

I don't think I could handle a heated blanket at my age! Thankfully it's not my whole legs, so I just have a bowl of hot water for my feet.

I definitely feel more human today, so I'm going shopping in a bit. DD went with a list yesterday, but it wasn't altogether successful! Didn't like to complain though, it was good of her to offer!

I'm starting methotrexate tomorrow. I've had it since Wednesday, but I have a big party this afternoon, which I thought might be quite boozy, so I thought I'd wait until after. Typically, as I've been unwell this weekend, I probably won't have much booze anyway now!

Hope you're back on track too. Smile
