Is it worth trying to return something to House of Fraser through the post?

I bought a fan from House of Fraser a couple of days ago. Unfortunately it looks pretty but has very little power so not what I hoped for. I tried to return it to the store yesterday but was told that because I paid via Paypal I need to post it back (seemed like an easy way of doing it at the time!).

Having checked their facebook page it looks as though many people have returned items but not received their money back as they usually would.

In my shoes would you return it & risk not getting a refund? Or keep it and at least get something for my money?

I wouldn’t risk it

Knittedfairies · 23/08/2018 20:18

I doubt you’d see any refund.

Nanasueathome · 23/08/2018 20:18

I would keep it
It seems their financial situation is all over the place at the moment with the new owner not agreeing to pay debts from previous owners
If you return it there is no way of knowing if and when you will be refunded

Return it. I got a hof refund today....though I never received my order as they stopped posting. Plus if you don't get a refund you should be covered by PayPal promise.

So I think refunds are coming, just slowly. It took 2 weeks for mine.

Thanks all. I think I'll return it and if I don't get my money back will have a go at putting in a claim on my visa card or through Paypal promise, then.
