Can anyone identify this cream coloured stuff? Not sure where it's leaking from or what it is. Can anyone advise? House is a new build, we've only been in a couple of weeks and it wasn't there then!

I can't see anything cream coloured.

Danceintherain2018 · 23/08/2018 19:18

Ghost spunk? Blush

Camelsinthegobi · 23/08/2018 19:22

An extremely slow leak leaving mineral deposits. Will be dripping down from somewhere. I’d probably get it checked but not panic.

wowfudge · 23/08/2018 19:26

Looks like a blob of expanding foam.

llangennith · 23/08/2018 19:26

An alien embryo?

SchrodingersBox · 23/08/2018 19:41

I'd say expanding foam, it's used to fill holes. You should be able to scrap it off. It will be from when the boiler was installed.

Danceintherain2018 · 23/08/2018 19:50

It wasn't there before though, it's only appeared in the last few days.

Mineral deposit from a leak.

Danceintherain2018 · 23/08/2018 21:23

What do I need to do? Can I wipe it off or should I wait and call someone?

OP posts:
Whoisalanbrazil · 23/08/2018 21:26

Is it hard or is it wet?

Whoisalanbrazil · 23/08/2018 21:28

That's a genuine question I'm not being rude 😂

Danceintherain2018 · 23/08/2018 22:45

I haven't touched it yet. Will find something to poke it with!

Just wipe it off then see if it appears aha

ApolloandDaphne · 24/08/2018 09:22

Not aha! AGAIN ffs.

PigletJohn · 24/08/2018 15:33

yes.

I say expanding foam. Cut it away with a sharp knife. The "gold thing" is a brass stop-end, probably intended to be screwed onto the filling loop pipes to prevent them dripping.

As it is quite new you will probably find the outside is yellow and the inside is white.

It is completely insignificant.

ToadOfSadness · 24/08/2018 15:38

I can't see it but I would say probably plumbing compound or Plumbers Mait, used to seal joints, they don't 'set' so if it stays soft, just wipe it off and keep an eye on it for leaks (assuming it is where I think it is). It might be that someone will need to come and seal it later with some plumbers tape if it leaks.

PigletJohn · 24/08/2018 15:53

I can see it. Look on the right-hand cap, dangling on its retaining strap.

ToadOfSadness · 24/08/2018 15:56

My eyes aren't great PigletJohn, what does it look like to you?

PigletJohn · 24/08/2018 16:01

to me it looks exactly like a smear of expanding foam.

you might need to zoom it.

ToadOfSadness · 24/08/2018 16:46

Sorry, I hadn't seen your previous post.

PigletJohn · 24/08/2018 23:53
