Who should have the car?!

On holiday at moment, fly home and arrive late Monday night (home around 12.30/1am).

DH is back at work Tuesday, leaves around 6.30am.

We have one car at the moment which is predominantly his, we live abroad and hire a second car for me normally.

He wants the car to go to work, I think he should get a taxi and pick up another hire car for me on way home. Only he can do this and have me as 2nd driver due to my visa otherwise I’d go and pick one up during the day. I get he’ll be tired but unfortunately it’s the only way to get another car. We are totally car dependent where we live so I will need one ASAP anyway.

I think I should have the car, I need to pick up the cat from the cattery 40 minutes drive away and get some shopping. We’ve been away 6.5 weeks so there is nothing at home and I will need to feed the DC. Don’t really want to be taxiing around with them and cat. No shops in walking distance or online shopping options.

I offered to take him to work but he’d rather we didn’t have to wake the DC up after such a late night.

Who should suck it up and use taxis for the day?!!

He should!

Great answer! Hoping I’ll get some more in my favour......

You should, sounds like you have loads to do, no point in him taking the car and having it sitting idle outside work all day

ShoesJerry · 23/08/2018 18:22

You should have the car. He should use taxis. You've asked the question one way round in your title and the opposite way round at the end of your post, so be careful with tallying of "you should" or "he should" answers!

CherryPlum · 23/08/2018 18:23

But that answer's not in your favour

Returnofthesmileybar · 23/08/2018 18:24

Sorry, you get the car, he takes the taxi. You asked two different questions

CherryPlum · 23/08/2018 18:25

I think you should have the car

custardy - 8 and 10. It’s an hour plus round trip to drop him off so wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving them that long

If he takes the car then when would he get the hire car?

You have lots more errands to run so you should have the car and he should take a taxi. Otherwise if he has the car then he has to do the shopping and collect the cat too. Not compatible with his working hours? Well then he doesn't get to have the car.

You should get the car.
