BF - is this right?

DS is 4 weeks old and EBF. He has been feeding constantly round the clock for the past week. Sometimes with only an Hour between feeds.

Then last night he slept for 5 hours - instead of his usual 2, fed for 30 minutes, slept for three hours and then fed for 30 minutes. He is now asleep again, should I be worried?

As long as he is fine otherwise that's absolutely ok.

I'm guessing that he's either your first or your first ebf. The frequency of feeding does tail off as their stomachs get bigger; it might feel particularly sudden if he's just had a growth spurt or developmental leap.

Keep an eye on him and as long as he's ok in himself (usual level of alertness, not a lot harder than usual to wake, normal skin tone) don't sweat it.

He'll probably have a growth spurt around 6 weeks and you'll be wishing for a break again - it does ease up.

As long as you're getting wet and dirty nappies, just go with it. He'll soon be waking you for more again Grin

Sounds absolutely great to me. As long as he's gaining weight, plenty of wet nappies (poop can be only once or twice a week at this stage) and seems alert when he is awake then sounds great to me. 4 - 6 week sis growth spurt time.

Sounds like he's been working hard getting your supply up and is now reaping the rewards. You're doing a fab job, good work :)

Thanks everyone for the reassurance Smile he is a premmie and only 5.10 when he was born and is now 6. Lots of wet nappies each day and a couple of dirty ones a week. Never thought an easy day would worry me so much!
