Dr Xand Horizon Programme (triggering:about suicide)

Did anyone else watch the Horizon Programme looking into suicide particularly amongst men? What did you think?
I thought it was really insightful and honest. Dr Xand was very candid which I really admired (although I do feel a bit concerned about him now!).
Interesting to see that simply asking aomeone if they are suicidal can dramatically decrease rates of suicide.

I didn't see this. Is Dr Xand suicidal? Sad I'm possibly over invested in the lives of the van Tullekens. Blush

He didn't actually say he was but said that when he was younger he couldn't understand it at all but now he's older and has a strong of failed relationships, a son who lives thousands of miles away that he can identify with those feelings. Chris rings him asking if he's suicidal.
It was great that he expressed those things because otherwise presenting it would have just comes across as a bit "look at me observing this thing but not engaging too much" which would jar intensely.
Also over invested : saw them on stage once and they are so clever and involved in such worthwhile work with aids and medicine in war zones. Sigh

It must be heartbreaking being his twin and knowing he feels like that too. 😭 My siblings are much younger than me and I barely know them. That might be a blessing in disguise.

It must be difficult for him yes. I once heard a saying that the price we pay for love is grief.

😭 That's set me off.
