Vinyl flooring

We are thinking of getting vinyl flooring (Amtico) down in our hallway and front room. Does anyone have it and what do you think?

The hallway is a done deal as due to a number of reasons it's the best option. But I'm not so sure about the front room. My main concerns are it's about £800 more than carpet once fitted. I also can't quite get past the idea that vinyl is not for the front room. Fine for kitchens and bathrooms but seems odd in the front room. We can't go for engineered wood as once all the bits are added in it's too high as we want the floors all the same level. But I think carpet will get trashed so vinyl is practical. It looks great, just like wood but it's still vinyl. Confused

I have recently renovated a house. I went for expensive laminate downstairs which proved a nightmare to fit due to an uneven floor. I wished I had gone for amtico or kardean. However I recently went to see some kardean ‘wood’ style flooring and although it was very good quality I couldn’t move past the fact it was imitation wood. I guess I would prefer an expensive scotchgard carpet. But that’s just me.

I am now looking at bamboo. Anyone know about that?

I had dark wood effect vinyl in my hallway. It looks great and like the real thing, but is a lot less expensive, and its much warmer than wood or laminate!

We had bamboo flooring in our last house. Lovely colour and I liked it BUT it scratches really easily. I wouldn’t use it again.
Amtico/Karndean are a nightmare to lay unless your floor is totally even - we really struggled in our old, uneven house. We have it in the bathroom and it’s really good - looks just like wood. I can tell the difference, but several friends haven’t been able to - we’re surprised when they found out it was vinyl. I would definitely consider for a main part of a house.

Oh darn. I was really hoping bamboo was the solution. Thank you for telling me though EnidBlyton1. Seeing as it's for the hallway downstairs it needs to not scratch too easily.
