How many fanny pads a day?

Beanfield · 22/08/2018 20:34

I’ve lost my mooncup and had to resort to buying some fannypads. I do have hideous period issues but this is ridiculous. So far today I’ve gone through about 12. Quite apart from the mess, the pouring out the edges and the faff they are so expensive!!!!

How many is normal to use in a day?

Nowhere near that amount! Maybe 3 or 4 at a push

Pittcuecothecookbook · 22/08/2018 20:37

6 on the 2 heaviest flow days, 3 to 4 on the others

Geneticsbunny · 22/08/2018 20:40

I am with you bean. Mine only last about 30 mins on a heavy day. Fortunately I now have a coil fitted so no more bleeding for me (mwahh ha ha).

5-6 on days 1-3. Probably 3-4 for days 4-5 then just a couple

Whisky2014 · 22/08/2018 20:41

Sometimes I can get through a full period on 3 tampons, 1 fanny pad and maybe 3 or 4 panty liners. 12 pads in one day seems insane.

bluerunningshoes · 22/08/2018 20:42

10 nighttime ones on the first day.
then 4 normal ones for the next 3-4 days.

Tika77 · 22/08/2018 20:43

1 a day for me most of the time but I always had lighter periods.

EmmaC78 · 22/08/2018 20:43

Poor you. That sounds bad. I am normally 3 -4 a day at the start then 2 a day towards the end but I am fortunate to have very light periods.

Beanfield · 22/08/2018 20:43

I knew it was a stupid amount. I’m waiting to have it out thankfully.

Where the chuff is my mooncup? How does a person mislay such a thing?

You need to see your GP if you are going through that many in a day.

Notthisnotthat · 22/08/2018 20:46

Probably 6-8 super plus tampons on the first couple of days and a secure night time towel or 2 as I will leak. I use tampax and always, tested out the cheap supermarket versions and the towels in particular were awful went through much more of them.

Beanfield · 22/08/2018 20:46

I miss my mooncup Sad

Soubriquet · 22/08/2018 20:47

Blimey that's loads!!

I use reusable pads and go through around 3 a day on my worst.

LoniceraJaponica · 22/08/2018 20:49

Can't you buy another one?

Believeitornot · 22/08/2018 20:51

Are you using panty liners or sanitary pads 😱

Beanfield · 22/08/2018 20:52

I kind of begrudge the £20 A’s the bastard uterus is on borrowed time.

However. It might be a year and I can’t be dealing with having to buy ££££££ of disposables.

Beanfield · 22/08/2018 20:54

Big long always pads. Now I understand why I feel like complete shit.

OP posts:
LoniceraJaponica · 22/08/2018 20:55

So go and see the GP then.

ncaug2018 · 22/08/2018 20:56

Also 10-15 per day - usually change every 2 hours day and night or wake up in a flood. Wear it as a 'nappy' overnight so 1 front, 1 middle, 1 back and a flat pad under me as well... nightmare, costs a fortune.

Beanfield · 22/08/2018 21:00

I have Lonicera. I’m waiting for a hysterectomy.

StripySocksAndDocs · 22/08/2018 21:02

Used to be the same as ncaug2018. i think no one has a concept of what a heavy period is, until they experience one.

Not sure what changed - I took Agnus Cactus which seemed to make a difference- but it might be something else

Lalliella · 22/08/2018 21:16

You ladies who are getting through so many pads / tampons per day - get the Mirena coil. It has absolutely changed my life. Well 1/3 of it!

Pascha · 22/08/2018 21:16

Meluna cup is £10-11 with prime delivery on Amazon. Bit cheaper and you can have one by tomorrow evening. I think if you have to wait up to a year it's probably worth investing in another one whichever you go for. You'll spend far more on pads if you don't find the original.

Jent13c · 22/08/2018 21:17

Since I had my son I go through a super tampon every 2 hours and need a back up pad as I leak pretty much every time. Just ordered a cup and cannot believe I only changed it twice in 24 hours. Bloooooody marvellous

Beanfield · 22/08/2018 21:22

Mirena was shit. Bled for 8 months then it fell out.
Will give in and order a new cup. Then the old one will turn up
