my sister is due to have a baby very soon and i’m looking for ideas for a sort of gift bag to give her after the baby is born. i’ve bought her stuff for the baby but i’d like to buy her some bits and bobs too. i’ve already got her some nice pyjamas but what else could i include?

That’s lovely of you. I always like to get something for Mum too (and really appreciated the people that did for me)

Hand cream I would say is a good shout. Lots of hand washing with a new baby. The l’occitane shea butter hand cream I was given was ace.

Some nice chocolates or biscuits for a little treat/sugar boost.

Agree with nice Hand Cream, she will be washing her hands a lot. Someone bought me a little travel set with some lovely toiletries which I really appreciated.

If it’s your Sister, how about some IOUs, like a hug (for her), nappy change, meal, washing up?

If she BFs a massive box of homemade flapjacks would probably be appreciated too Smile

My MIL brought me an enormous cake when I had DS and it was the best gift ever!

A travel mug to keep hot drinks hot. A separate insulated cup to keep cold drinks cold. A Costa voucher for when she doesn't have the energy to make her own drink.

I bought my sister and her DH vouchers for takeaway food and plenty of toiletries/pampering things/luxury tea bags etc, as well as the usual baby bits. Oh, I also stocked their freezer with lasagne, shepherds pies and curries.

Food! Home-made ‘ready meals’ that can go in the freezer, or turn up with them in an oven-proof dish, deliver the food and go away. People who did that for us when we first got home have my undying love, forever!

Also good: snacks she can eat one-handed while feeding, nice herbal tea, and not glam/pampery but I was so glad of the friend who turned up with extra maternity pads (on this theme, dark-coloured comfy bottoms might be handy as well), good breast pads for my eternally leaky boobs, and lansinoh cream for sore nipples.

husband ‘s suggestion of a travel mug is great too; with a lid so she can safely carry a cup of tea with her.
