What pointless 'talent' do you have?

Just talking with a friend about pointless 'talents' and wondered what yours are Smile

She was working out when she could next have paracetamol and I just said it immediately, when I was a teen I spent a lot of time having inhalers for my asthma every 4 hours, so it turns out I can still work out 4 hours immediately without thinking about it

She chipped in that she can fold her tongue in to a w shape

IJustLostTheGame I hate your username. 😠

FanciedAChangeToday · 23/08/2018 22:30

I have never had brainfreeze and can bite into anything ice cold with my front teeth. To me this is not at all amazing but my kids are weirdlyimpressed...
Surely I win most unimpressive pointless talent!!

inmyheadimthequeen · 23/08/2018 22:41

Chinacrisis and sandstormbrewing I can do the pregnant woman thing too! It happened this week actually, after not happening for a while. I used to be able to do phone numbers too but haven't used that for a long time now that numbers are stored in phones and rarely need to be written down/said out loud.

Badcat666 · 23/08/2018 22:44

I can write backwords (mirror writing?) and can fit my fist in my mouth. I'm all the rage at parties me!

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 23/08/2018 23:14

I can make my little toes twitch in sync. I can also tell whether tea has sugar in by sniffing it. I can recite all my nearest and dearests' mobile numbers off the top of my head and I can also take notes while maintaining eye contact with the person I'm talking to. That really weirds people out!

In my family, I can hear things other people can't and I can see things other people can't either. Like the cheese in the fridge in the middle of the shelf, right where I said it was.Grin

HildaZelda · 23/08/2018 23:20

I can name all 50 states and all 50 state capitals.

WhiteCaribou · 24/08/2018 01:01

I can slice bread by hand perfectly so it looks like it's beeen cut by machine. Not much use in these days of mostly sliced bread but I was much in demand when I worked in a bakery and the bread slicer broke.

eeekwtf · 24/08/2018 01:20

I can verbally spell words backwards at great speed.

eeekwtf · 24/08/2018 01:24

E.g. can verbally spell antidisestablishmentarianism backwards really quickly.

scrivette · 24/08/2018 03:37

I can drive around a 90 degree corner at 92 miles an hour by slamming my foot on the brake without spinning the car.

Disclaimer - learnt at driver training not on the road.

orderPlease · 24/08/2018 04:59

I'm fluent in French

SallyVating · 24/08/2018 05:39

I can plait chewing gum in my mouth and also knot cherry stalks

soupforbrains · 24/08/2018 08:49

I can do a FANTASTIC impression of the bagpipes.

Also, I can tell a person their Glove size just by looking at their hands. and also I can tell you a mans overall size by sight. (amazing skills I have picked up through work that I never in a million years expected to be able to do)

soupforbrains · 24/08/2018 08:50

@Squirrel26 Grin bet you're good to have on side in an argument though!

marsbar11 · 24/08/2018 10:17

i can exactly mimic the famous line from kevin and perry, "can i have a jam sandwich please mrs patterson, thankyou" in the EXACT voice and everything!

Rebecca36 · 24/08/2018 10:52

I excel at procrastination and sleeping, do they count? If so I will give myself a gold star - maybe next week - and have a kip.

BadgersBum · 24/08/2018 11:06

I can make myself sneeze by looking at the sun ... and have extended this 'talent' over the past few years by now being able to spontaneously pee my pants whenever I do it!

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 24/08/2018 12:40

Graphista - you're right! Navy family so a lot of travelling around the world.
I never put the 2 together before but dad was the same!

PenelopeShitStop · 24/08/2018 14:09

Speed reading. I can easily finish a 500 page novel in a day. One of my early memories is feeling so frustrated when sharing a book with another pupil, and having to always wait ages until they'd laboured through the same page. Teachers didn't believe I had read a book so quickly until they quizzed me about it and I answered all their questions. Ended up being assessed as having a reading age of 15+ when I was only 8.

Witchend · 24/08/2018 14:38

I can ignore anything round me, especially mess, if I'm sewing or writing. It's very useful with three children.

I can write with either hand, in particular I can write mirror with my left and ordinary with my right at the same time (and the same words)

Graphista · 24/08/2018 17:06

Puddle - not surprised. I and my siblings and all my aunts and uncles on dads side the same (army family going WAY back to we know at least napoleonic wars), friends who are military brats the same (I've a couple navy and RAF brat friends too - like seems to call to like 😂). Also a friend who's dad was diplomatic service who also moved around a lot.

Even dd - and strictly speaking she was only a military brat for 2 years (although we moved 4 times in that time).

It must be all the moving about and having to sleep in houses when the furniture sheen delayed etc.

"I remember birthdays of people h that it would freak them out to know I still remember their birthday." Yep I do that too, I've learnt not to mention it as it does freak people out - also anniversaries, I've even had times where I can remember the date a couple met and they don't! No need for Facebook reminders 😂😂

Soupforbrains - I can still assess people's size by looking at them (in person not so much in photos/video) but that wasn't pointless when I learned it as it related to a job I was doing. Included height and head circumference and I've just retained the ability.

Badgersbum - the sneezing is a medical 'thing' I have it too, it's called photic sneeze reflex.

RubyLux · 24/08/2018 17:56

I can judge within a few minutes how long a journey will take, regardless of whether I've ever been there before. Traffic conditions, weather, unexpected delays - I just know somehow exactly how long it'll take to drive there. I alwaya leave at the right time and I'm never, ever late.

I can judge the size of something or whether something will fit into a space just by glancing at it. I never have to measure up before buying a piece of furniture or something - I just know if it'll be the right size for the place I plan to put it: sofa in a nook in the lounge, picture in a space amongst other pictures on the bedroom wall. Today I needed to bring into the house a single mattress from in the garage and put it somewhere before using it for a guest tonight. I just knew where it would fit within a couple of centimeters

I never get lost. I just know my way. If feels instinctive.

Giggorata · 24/08/2018 18:09

I can raise eyebrows individually, wiggle just my little toe, burp at will and fart with my hands..
...but my most spectacular skill is that wherever I touch DH, whether it's a friendly poke, hug, clasp of the hand, rub on the back, etc, he will have a pre existing but undisclosed cut, bruise, graze or other hurt, which I unerringly home in on.
