Addicted to phone/internet in general

I’ve had enough of this bloody addiction. I’m on my phone way too much, and when I’m not on that I’m on the iPad looking up rubbish. Facebook, mumsnet, news websites, browsing internet shopping.

It’s not healthy and I’ve had enough. I’m wasting hours of my day. I’m not being productive. It’s stressing me out. Worst of all is that I don’t have the time and attention for my three beautiful children that I should do.

What a waste of time and a waste of life this is.

Have any of you overcome this issue?

I’ve tried internet blackout sites but I feel like I need a ‘cold turkey’ approach. What has stopped me chucking my phone is mainly down to photos. I love to take photos of my kids and share them with family that live overseas.

Does anybody have any suggestions for how I can still use my phone as a camera and send photos on what’s app but have no ability to use the internet?

Turn off wifi and data?

Im with you. I wish theyd never invented smartphones

I could do that re switching off the wifi/data. Then I just take the photos and send them via what’s app but I don’t actually connect to wifi. I could just turn it on and off again for the purposes of sending the messages sometime in the evening perhaps. Or actually in the morning over breakfast would be better. Then less chance of being sucked back in to internet wasteland.

Buy an.old fashioned camera and a phone with buttons for texts and calls.
I agree a smartphone.is a Pandora's box

Same here. Totally addicted. I hate myself for it and I know that in years to come I'm going to to look back to now and cringe at the endless hours and hours I've wasted.

I totally agree. I said I wasn’t going to use my phone anymore, yet here I am... I wish I could get a grip but I actually can’t!

You can download an app that will monitor your usage on your phone- it might help...but I agree- often find myself coming in for one reason and getting completely side tracked by a notification or something...

Buy a dumb phone that only has 2G. You can get them for about a £10-50. 2G internet is absolutely shit, you won't even bother trying to use it (remember the old WAP of the 90s?). Calls and texts only.
