I am an old codger, passed my test back in the mists of time when you had a man walk in front of the car in fog, so would like help.
Can anyone please tell me, does the HWC or driving instructors for that matter say that a car on an A road waiting to turn left into a side road is allowed to flash and signal at a car that is waiting to turn right into the same side road. The A road in question has a cycle lane, which the car turning right also needs to consider as it pulls into the side road.
The traffic was free-flowing, no traffic jams/slow moving traffic.
I keep seeing this happening, in fact it’s just happened to me where the driver was a learner with an instructor in the passenger seat. I decline the offer as I cannot imagine the signalling driver would offer their insurance details in the event of an accident.
I declined to turn right today as I couldn’t clearly see the cycle lane. They were displeased and refused to make the left themselves whilst continuing to flash their lights and make hand signals.
Have I missed something?
