Does anyone have any idea on how to make some extra cash? I have loads of free time while the kids are sleeping and wanted to make some extra money...

What are your skill sets? If you have a skill people want to use you can make money

JanetCres · 21/08/2018 11:37

Hi thanks, but i didn't want to commit to deadlines and things like that because the kids are small and take too much of my time.

I do surveys online eg one poll. It takes about 5 months to earn £25, so it's not a huge money spinner, but easy and flexible.

What type of thing did you have in mind? I can't quite understand how you visualise a home-based income stream that doesn't involve a skill or having to do something by a certain time, to be honest, but maybe I'm being unimaginative. Were you thinking more in terms of making and selling or something?

Buy and sell online?

Thanks everyone. I've been recommend to Panel Opinion, a survey site, apart from earning cash from surveys they also have monthly competitions and pay up to £250 on them.

A friend also told me about affiliate marketing, maybe i'll start a blog or something and earn money that way. If anyone have experience with that please feel free to share, it would be much appreciated. :-)

Could you make cards? Knit? Sew ban hats/bibs/bows?

What will your blog be about? You can't just start a blog and instantly be making money off affiliates. It takes time to build up readers and if you've nothing interesting happening you won't make any money. Affiliate marketing only works if you have people reading your blog and if it's content is good. Blogging isn't an easy money maker.

I buy old furniture very cheaply and revamp it and sell it on.

I will probably blog about this subject, finding ways for mums to make money from home while they look after their children.

I think you may find yourself disappointed.

JanetCres · 24/08/2018 13:31

Why is that?

I use Survey websites aswell, Survey Friends and Paid Focus Group are great.

Good luck with your blog, be positive about it and make it interesting. I bet there are loads of mums looking to make extra money as well. ;-)

DolorestheNewt · 24/08/2018 14:18

I don't think the number of mums looking to make extra money is the problem. I think the problem is the subject.

I think you may find it a hard subject to blog on - you may run out of ideas quite quickly, and blogs are hard enough to get going (to the point where people advertise on them) without having a subject that is quite tough in the first place.

Maybe widen the brief a bit, write on a number of parenting issues, and particularly make yourself an informed expert who can write entertainingly on a subject that (a)parents want to read about, and (b)isn't widely covered out there already. I'm guessing it will go better if you do a lot of research on what parenting blogs are out there already, what parents really seem to want to read about, and SEO writing (so that your blog gets picked up on a Google search for whatever it is you're writing about).

Good luck, OP - nothing ventured, nothing gained!
