What I’d really like to do today is stay home and potter around the house and spend some time with my ds’s as I have massive working guilt while they are off school and feel like I am just missing out on them.

Instead I have to drive over 400 miles for a work meeting.

Find some money from the money tree that is apparently only visible to DS and go on a shopping spree.

I'd really like to sleep, hide under a blanket, watch some crap tv on my own.

Instead I have to go to the dentist, see what he thinks should be done about my teeth hurting and how much that will cost, probably tell him I can't afford it anyway, work out how to entertain DC for the rest of the school holiday without spending money as it isn't pay day until the end of next week, deal with miserable bored DC, buy food whilst worrying about lack of money

Instead I have to cater to the every whim of a puppy and take the dcs to have their hair cut and buy school shoes.

Stay at home whilst kids go off to first day back at school. Instead I work in a school so first day back at work for me 😭😭

I have to take my DM to a hospital appointment, where she'll deny and minimise her symptoms. She'll also not listen to what the doctor tells her.

Afterwards we are going show shipping aggghhh
... for those currently caught up in school shoe shopping, you have it easy. Try it with an 89 year old who only wants shoes last available in 1956 and who only wants to pay 3 shillings for them 😉😃

What I would like to be doing is sleeping before my nightshift. Instead I have school run, nursery run and toddler group.

What I’d like to do:
Keep my 4 DC at home (or better yet, pack them all on a plane and take them back to the place we all consider home) and just enjoy them.

What I’m actually doing:
Sending my 4 DC off to school for the first day back when not a single one of them wants to go. (DS has not made a single friend in his first year at high school and is dreading going back, DTs have been bullied this past year and are dreading going back into class with the same girls and with a teacher who has a reputation for being angry all the time, DD’s best friend is leaving in 2 weeks’ time to move back to Germany and she is properly sad)

Urgh - days like this when homeschooling seems really appealing. I LOVE the school holidays!

Same wish to do and have to do as you OP. Silver lining is that they'll be spending loads of time with DH the next two weeks while I'm working before they all go back to school. I see them more than he does in term time and we flip in the holidays.

I will have dc and drag them round the shops as dh had an unexpected work day.

I'd like to have another lazy day at home, but I have to go to work. Still, I have a 4 day weekend coming up and holidays are in 3 weeks.

I'd love to clean and declutter the kitchen and playroom but instead I shall be at soft play, then hosting relatives for the afternoon.

Sleep in until late and watch Homes Under the Hammer in my pj's. Clean the house.

Entertain 1 yo twins and a 4 yo and take them all for a haircut. Spend a lot of time wiping their meals off the floor, walls, my jeans etc.

I'd like an empty and clean house. One that was cleaned by someone else. Food and wine all ready. Then have Ryan Gosling turn up.

We spent the first two weeks of hols abroad with family then had work and now got a busy day at work today. Next week are away too. What I really want more than anything is a day at home with my children. I went back to work after being a SAHM. I was depressed then. I’m no longer depressed I needed to work but I really just want to spend some time with my children at home doing nothing. I don’t want to go away next week - I just want to be in our home with them. DH booked next week’s holiday my heart wasn’t in it - it’s self catering and the travel and food planning including the packing all needs to be done. I sound really ungrateful but I just want time at home

Read, watch tv, excercise, do house work in peace, go out for a leisurely meal, sleep.

Work, parenting, interrupted housework, household admin.

What I'd really like to do is go to the farm with DS and my cousin who is looking after him for me today.

I'm on my way to work. I'm lucky that I work Mon-Thurs so I get 3 days out of the week with DS but would still love to be able to spend the whole holidays with him.
