I'm going to Edinburgh on Wednesday for a job interview. It's at 3pm, it'll take 4 hours to get there. I don't know if I should shell out for a hotel afterwards? Or just get some food and a bucket of coffee then crack on?

4 hours then something fairly stressful. Yeah, I`d get a hotel.

RedneckStumpy · 21/08/2018 02:52

I would just get on home, the interview will give you a decent break.

Depends if you are going north or south... And if you are interested in the festival... Lots of all accommodation booked up and rest is £££ so maybe check that too?

I did a 9 hour round trip for an interview for my current job. Did wee and drink breaks on the journeys to and from, it wasn't too bad. The next day I was buggered though and in hindsight, I would of booked that off work.

I’d get the hotel Tuesday night so I could be refreshed ready for the interview.

Now you have me thinking... Last two jobs have been 8/10 hour round trips and I did them in one day. Should be fine. Good luck!

You will be lucky to get a hotel room in Edinburgh during the festival. If you do it will be expensive. I would get a pile of goodies from M&S and head home

UrsulaPandress · 21/08/2018 05:29

If I were going to stay it would be the night before. After the interview I'd just want to crack on home.

Good luck.

If Edinburgh is booked up, could you drive an hour out, and stay there? Make getting home the next day easier.

Definitely drive to a premier inn grab some snacks have a little bath and have a tv evening and then crack on and drive home some of the motorway hotels can be super cheap

Done in a day surely, assuming the interview is the normal chat or presentation for an hour?

Just set off early, nice lunch to relax and get your thoughts together, interview and drive home, with plenty of breaks.

Unless it's several hours long that you couldn't get home by 10/11 pm, then it's like a normal working day.

My last job interview was an 8hr round trip. It was tiring but fine. Nowadays when I go to the office I always stay over though.
