The little bugger was hanging out on my stair rail and I gripped it as I went upstairs. It got me on the fleshy bit of my ring finger, close to knuckle joint and it fucking hurts!

What the hell was it doing there? And it’s weird and tiny Confused

Put vinegar on it and it’ll feel better straight away. They are bastards. Vinegar for wasp stings, bicarbonate of did for bees.

fbsg · 20/08/2018 21:09

No vinegar in the house! I juiced a lemon all over it instead. Not sure it had much effect Grin

It’s just a bit achey now, I’ll survive

Don’t think i’ve ever been stung before, was mostly shocked/surprised at the circumstance.

I got stung a couple of weeks ago, just below my ear, while driving at 60mph on a busy motorway, with a car full of kids.
I think the little cherubs learnt a few new swear words, and one said to their parent "auntie whitelisbon doesn't like wasps, does she?"
No, darling, you're right, she doesn't, little fucker that it was.

fbsg · 20/08/2018 21:31

Ouch WhiteLisbon what a hideous place to be stung, both physically and situationally!

Whitelisbon having one of the fuckers in the car whilst I'm driving is one of my biggest fears. I'm allergic to them and am very paranoid about it being worse next time so I tend to keep my windows up a lot, except it's boiling and DH and DCs all put their windows down. Today sat in traffic I kept seeing the arseholes around the cars so I kept putting the windows up. I'd rather sweat!

They bloody hurt OP. My worse one was a November sat at my computer at home. It was freezing and I had my hand between the thighs to keep it warm and I squeezed my legs together and got stung! I didn't even know it was there. The second I open my windows at home, there they bloody are! Total fuckers!

FuckKnuckle · 20/08/2018 21:41

My DD had one in her motorbike helmet. It started crawling about on her visor and she swiped it with her hand because she thought it was on the outside.

It wasn't.

She broke all records for pulling over and taking her helmet off. Didn't get stung, though!

PavlovianLunge · 20/08/2018 22:06

Don’t forget, the stripy fuckers can sting even when they’re dead. Angry < face of bitter experience

NellieBee · 20/08/2018 22:07

ooh I FUCKING hate them

froufroulala · 20/08/2018 22:07

A couple of days ago I was mowing the lawn & one stung me on my upper lip. I now have a fat lip. Never been stung before, this year they seem more aggressive than ever. Fuckers.

MegGriffin · 20/08/2018 22:22

Interestingly I read on a NHS page yesterday that you're meant to remove any sting, wash with soap and water then put cold compress on it and nit bother with vinegar Confused don't know when the advice changed. I haven't been stung since I was about 15 but loathe the buggers and spend my whole time avoiding them.

Stormwhale · 20/08/2018 22:26

When we were camping a couple of weeks ago dh took a big swig of his can of cider and very quickly had a look of sheer horror on his face. He ran outside and spat it all out. He had nearly drunk a wasp. Amazingly he didn't get stung, but was still rather traumatised!

hippoherostandinghere · 20/08/2018 22:27

I feel your pain. I got stung in the foot last week. I know from when I got stung on the arm last year that I take a bit of a reaction to them where I swell so cleaned it straight away and took and antihistamine and I thought it had settled. A few days ago though it got really itchy and by the next day half my foot was red and swollen. Gp says it was infected and had to take a course of antibiotics. Little bastards.

Singlenotsingle · 20/08/2018 22:28

They are aggressive this year. My ads disturbed a wasps' nest one day last week, and got chased across a field. The language was amazing! He got stung 16 times, some on the face and one near the eye. He looked as though he'd been in a fight. I got 2 stings as well! Nasty little buggers!

Helpmemyhairisterrible · 20/08/2018 22:31

They're bad this year. I got stung on my jawline last week. An ammonia pen helped a lot and it stopped hurting after about six hours.

Watto1 · 20/08/2018 22:33

I got stung at a wedding last week, just as the vicar was pronouncing the couple husband and wife. It was all I could do not to yelp in pain. The little bugger actually stung me through my dress. DH thinks it was attracted by the floral pattern!

goingtotown · 20/08/2018 22:35

Juice of an onion.
I was stung yesterday, the chef in the restaurant gave me a raw sliced onion & told me to lay the onion on the sting, it worked like magic.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 20/08/2018 22:37

I got stung on my underarm last week, little fucker got right up near my armpit. I was on my own with DS who instantly started crying and panicking while I tried to play it cool to calm him down. They’re really bad this year.

fbsg · 21/08/2018 09:42

Ok, just seen a second wasp on the stairs. How many before I worry that we have a nest somewhere?

I got stung a few years ago whilst on holiday in Cornwall- pesky critter flew down the sleeve of my fleece whilst I was walking to the pub for dinner and stung me on the underside of my arm. Didn't think anything of it and assumed the swelling and pain was part and parcel of a wasp sting so kept it cool in the sea and hoped it would ease soon.

Two morning later (so about 36 hours) I had to take eldest son to A & E as he had ripped his foot up whilst riding his bike in flip flops Angry and whilst treating him, the nurse expressed concern about my arm! Bless her, she then booked me in as a patient too and gave me antibiotics and lots of instructions about self-care as (in her words!) "wasps are dirty beggars and stick their stings in all sorts of places before sticking them in you"! Took several days for the swelling to subside though

frankie001 · 21/08/2018 10:01

I once got stung on the tit and trying to explain to my dad what was going on was fun!
