This is the third such bite I’ve had - all from different places, and in different locations. They’ve All started like this - bloody puncture, and a raised bit which then flattens and goes yellow (as in the photo), then huge angry red raised area for a couple of days, which then disappears to nothing but a red bump around the puncture mark.

Itches and burns like fuck. I’ve got other bites at the moment which are completely normal! I last had bites like this a couple of years ago, so thinking it’s something specific that’s feasting on me! Any suggestions?

Are the bites on exposed skin ?

EduCated · 20/08/2018 16:22

Yes, well, one of them was on my arse cheek, but I was wearing a dress Blush

Mosquito? Looks similar to those I got recently whilst walking - they were really itchy the day after (not so bad for the first 24 hours after biting) and swelled up massively !

EduCated · 20/08/2018 16:56

I’ve had lots of mosquito bites that haven’t gone like this, including some a few weeks ago. I’ve had three like this in the past month or so (all in the U.K.), but other bites in between and at the same time that haven’t.

I wondered about horsefly, but looking online it suggests they’re more of a cut than a puncture Confused

My only other thought was a wasp sting, which looking online now, doesn’t look dissimilar, but surely I’d have noticed them at the time?!

When are you getting the bites? If they are appearing overnight, could it be bedbugs?

EduCated · 20/08/2018 17:03

Should also say, one was on my ankle, which went quite swollen for a bit, though more after the skin reaction had gone down.

They’ve all been whilst I’ve been outside in gardens or similar

Gah, just accidentally dug my nail in it and nearly hit the roof!

Fleas? Personally I have quite a different reaction to flea bites than to mosquito bites.
