Does anyone have any ideas-afterschool childcare for new year 7 with autism

Dear all
I have an 11 year old with mild autism going to mainstream secondary. I work but am considering a job with a later finish. I don't feel comfortable with him walking home and being alone for 2 hours, but there seems to be a distinct lack of after school childcare for kids this age.
I have thought about letting him walk home to the current childminder's house and letting him stay there for a couple of hours. I just don't think he's ready to be alone all that time, he's quite immature also.
Has anyone done similar? Or have advice?
TIA

We had the same with ds1 ( asd). He went to his childminders until Christmas. From Jan he was, okay with the new routine to go home. He gets the video has about 1 and a half hours home alone. Works fine now but think he needed a couple of terms with the old childcare routine
