Is there still a luggage delivery service from Gatwick airport to your house in central London?

There used to be a quite good service called air Porter or something and then I think they changed it to destination to destination, and some destinations don't have it. I'm coming back from Vietnam on Thursday and will have a very happy suitcase. It's a two hour taxi journey from the airport, so I want to take the thames link home, but I can't carry my suitcase from the station to my house. Is there a service from Gatwick that I can use?

Here you go, with a clicky link. It is indeed called AirPortr, with a funny spelling.

Thank you! Does anybody know if I can definitely use it just from Gatwick to my house though? When I wanted to use it going to Vietnam, it was a door to door service they said it, like from my house in London to its final destination. And there wasn't anything. There wasn't anything on the Vietnamese side.

Ah, have now found their own website. Sorry, should have checked this out first.

Their phone number is: +44 (0)203 384 6677.

Here's a clickable link to the website, and all the text below this is copied & pasted from there:

How it works
City Delivery in 4 simple steps

Book online quickly and easily, or give us a call. Just tell us which airport you’re flying into and choose a 1-hour slot to drop your bags off. Then let us know where in London, and when, you want your luggage delivered. If you don’t need your bags straight away, we can store them overnight (with your first three nights free).

Drop your luggage when you land
Collect your bags from the carousel, head straight through customs, and meet us in the Check-In area. We’ll secure your suitcases with tamper-aware technology to make sure no one interferes with your belongings en route.

Home delivery
One of our security cleared drivers will deliver your luggage back to you at your pre-booked place and time.

Short answer: yes, looks like you can book from Gatwick to London home address.

It looks like AirPortr are offering exactly the service you describe: airport to or from London address. Maybe Destination to Destination were offering something different.

Just used it from our home direct to our destination airport, brilliant! Didn't use on our return trip though because you have to get the luggage at the airport and drop it with them. They then deliver it home separately. As we were getting a taxi anyway, it didn't seem worth it

Does anybody know if the world works are still going on? I left last week and I had to get the Thames link because the taxi company said it would have been two hours by taxi. From MW3 area to Gatwick.

We came back today from Gatwick to NW3! What a coincidence. I was in the taxi when I posted above. We did not encounter any untoward roadworks there is a 50mph limit on part of the motorway near to Gatwick but it wasn't a big problem.

Very small world! I have met two people in Vietnam this week to new friends of mine who were working in Vietnam previously and one who runs an organization I was working with. It’s a very small world. I might get a taxi back then if it’s not too bad. My flight arrives at around midday so it shouldn’t hit rush-hour.

I left on Saturday, maybe that’s why they were roadworks going on. They told me it would take two hours to get to Gatwick.
