Good places for an overnight break in winter

Id like to book one night in a hotel for me and dh with days either side to do things,somewhere interesting and not more than couple hrs away we are in South Yorkshire.Not york though as been loads of times.tia

Matfen Hall in Northumberland. Great for Hadrian’s Wall and a nice place to stay. They usually do deals out of season.
