Belated honeymoon.

Did anyone else not get a honeymoon? We got married in Gretna Green and had to come home again as we both had to go back to work.

Dh and I have been together for 17 years. The last five years have been a huge struggled. There have been times both of us have wanted to walk away. But we didn’t. We carried on. And now we are happier than we have ever been.

We are going on our first child free holiday next year. And I jokingly called it our honeymoon and my husband laughed.

But. I never got one. So I’m calling it my belated honeymoon.

Anyone else have a gap between their wedding and honeymoon. And I’m being stupid calling it that huh. But we are in such a wonderful place now. it kind of feels like a honeymoon.

Not stupid at all. You should definitely call it your belated honeymoon and make it very special. Where are you off to?

Ahh thanks. Doing Paris for three days. Then a villa in south of France for a week. And then stopping on the way back home somewhere again. I’m so excited. My son is off doing scout stuff for most of August. So child free. After the struggle we have been through to keep us together we felt a nice holiday together would be good.

Sounds fantastic! Go and enjoy it and tell everyone you meet there in restaurants and hotels that you are on honeymoon 😊

We didn't do a big honeymoon, but I guess two nights in a hotel on the way home counts as one? I wanted to go further afield but DH struggles to travel much and be away from home.
