100 year commemoration medals on veterans graves

Does anyone know anything about this?

I went to visit my great grandfathers grave yesteday. He fought in the first war, but didn’t die until the late 80s.

Someone has placed on his grave an enamel poppy about the size of my palm and a 100 years commemorative plaque.

Does anyone know anything about these? I’m also intrigued as to how they knew he was a veteran to put it there as none of the family know about it

I saw there was a reply & clicked to see if you had an answer. I don’t, but there is this perhaps your local council or BL is doing something more involved?

Thanks Cold, it looked like a bigger campaign than that.

I should have taken a photo but it felt odd to photograph a grave

@AlbusPercival Do you know, I keep thinking about this. It’s the sort of thing that perhaps they might have approached th minister about (if it’s a churchyard) or the management of a municipal graveyard. Would it be worth dropping them an email?

Could be part of the Everyone Remembered campaign from the British Legion. It popped up earlier on my Facebook. It's in conjunction with the commonwealth graves committee, so it could well be linked...
