Naming swimming hats

Apologies for the dull thread.
My DD is just about to start a new school. I am trying to name her new belongings. Her new swimming hat appears to be of a type of plastic which I can't write on. I've tried Sharpies, nail varnish and biro and all of them come off when wiped or made wet. Anyone got any good ideas?

We have waterproof labels that go on wellies and water bottles and through the dishwasher, they might work. Got them online, the name tape places sell them.

Thanks cleaning
Thats something I haven't tried but I wonder what they would be like when the hat stretches when it's put on. Can you get stretchy labels🤔

I think for the swimming hat I would just write it in permanent marker.

Ooh yes, don’t know. We got some fantastic iron on transfer ones that crack but stay on when stretched, great for socks and jumpers, but ironing probably isn’t an option!

Go into Ryman’s and try all their pens. Buy the one that works!

Tippex?

Scratch the initials into it with a needle?

My DDs swimming hat is the usual cheapo rubber sort, I find permanent marker in the inside works a bit better than on the slightly shiny outside.

i dont think we ever lost one, but perhaps used a permanent marker.

How old is DD? Probably just easier to tell her not to loose it tbh.
