What age are you allowed to look old?

Late 30s, slightly wrinkly, lots more grey hairs coming through ... got me thinking about how long I should dye my hair for and when women are 'allowed' to look old?

Lots of people I know into their 60s are trying to keep young, with minor aesthetic surgery, hair dying etc and I've just seen lots of ads on the TV for anti-aging creams etc.

Just wondering what age 'society' accepts that you can be your age ... I used to think it was late 50s, or early 60s, but now I'm wondering if that's getting later and later (into 70s or even 80s).

Not complaining about it, obviously everyone is different and you can do whatever you want with your body (eg I don't have to dye my hair) but there does seem to be a societal pressure to stay looking young for as long as possible!

Looking at Hollywood these days I would err towards 70s upwards. :/

social pressure only comes from dickheads and can be ignored. look how you want.

anti ageing creams dont work, if they did no one would have wrinkles. it is all a lie. to look younger, smile and make sure any makeup isnt visible. there is a reason teens do thick beige coatings plus red and black circles - it adds a decade to any face.

I love the quote. Don’t regret getting old it is a privilege denied to so many.

Since reading that I have embraced the wrinkles and grey hair.

Thanks, yes I think it's 70 too :(

I certainly don't want to be worrying about how old I look for the next 30 years ... not sure I can embrace it yet, would like to just be natural but am very conscious of already not fitting in with the world.
