Parking at the O2?

Hi, does anyone have experience of parking at the O2 Arena?
It will be cheaper than going by train, and I can imagine the underground will be packed with people at the end of the performance.
Does it take an age to get in and park and get back out onto the road again?
Taking some people I don't know too well and would like to prepare them for a late night if its going to be going to take an hour to get out!
Thanks!

It used to be super expensive to park when I went there regularly. I suspect it still is.

The train is fine. I'd advise either making a dash as soon as the event finishes or being relaxed about it and having a drink afterwards so you miss the masses. If you do get caught up in it though, it's pretty well organised. You might just have to wait a bit to get into the station.

Thank you...It’s just there’s four of us so the train will be over £100! Much cheaper to park...I just don’t really know them and wanted to let them know if it’s likley to ages!

There’ll be traffic getting out of the 02 as well so be prepared to be stuck for a while. If you’re really unlucky (and depending which way you’re driving) there’ll be congestion getting through the Blackwall tunnel.
Saying that you can prebook parking, check their website for costs.

You can get valet parking which is fab as you avoid the queues coming out. I think it worked out cheaper than regular parking. £43 I think it worked out and I'd pay that to avoid the ridiculous queues upon leaving,

If you've got sky you can get in sky lounge for free too. Go to the sky site and I think it's on the VIP page.

It takes bloody ages to get out of the car park.
I went a few times a couple of years ago and parked by the cinema area which is about 1 mile away.
It was free and we enjoyed the walk back to the car, and no queues getting out.
Don't know if they have started charging now though.

Its horrendous to get away from, we park a few stops out and get the bus in

ReservoirDogs · 19/08/2018 15:26

Actually I do use the prepaid parkingquite a lot there and it is much quicker to get out there than at many venues.

I can get out of the car park and all the way home to Cambridge in one and a quarter hours.

I would advise parking at the Sainsburys/Nandos etc retail park at Geeenwich Bugsby's Way. Then you pretty much jump on any bus there as most if not all go via the o2. It's only 5 mins on the bus and you're there. Then when you leave, you again pretty much jump on any bus back. Parking is free and I think you have 4 hours. No queues!

Thank you all so much! I'll try to check out the other carpark on google maps. Much appreciated!

Don't. Park somewhere a few Jubilee line stops away. Or the retail park Pastaallday suggested.
