Comfortable shoe help

(I know theres a style and beauty thread but posting here for traffic)
Just wondering if anybody could offer any suggestions? Im looking for a comfortable pair of foot wear for a trip to new york. Im not diagnosed but i suspect ive got arthritis in my feet so they ache and are quite painful quite quickly. The usual suspects sketchers and converse only ripped my feet to bits.

Im happy to spend a fair bit (hopefully a little!!) On them.

Have you looked at Clarks? They are my go-to for comfy shoes. They offer non-standard width fittings too - it could be worth checking if your feet are narrower or wider than the standard fit if you often find shoes hurt your feet.

Do they do that for adults!? I never knew that. I havent looked at clarks, will pop in next time im in the city (we dont have one here!)

Yes, they certainly do. I have wide feet and it's a boon.

M&S footglove also do a wide fit, but I don't find their shoes as long-lasting as Clarks.

What will the weather be like? These ankle boots are without a doubt the most comfortable things I have ever worn. They make them in wide fit too.

It might help to work out what the problem is with your feet .Could it be plantar fascitis ( sp ? ) .

so much depends on size /shape of your feet and what affects them .

Hotter Shoes are stupid comfy. I just bought a pair of heels from there to wear to a wedding (fat pregnant feet at the moment!) and they’re amazing!

I wear nothing but Doc Martens these days. They take a while to gently break them in but they are so worth the wait

I am riddled with arthritis and they are the most comfortable shoes ever.

Hi.I have lots of trouble with my feet. Very sensitive skin, very high insteps, Freiberg's disease in one toe (micro fracture), plantar fascitis...
I usually wear Ugg boots (Winter) or suede trainers (Summer) as both have lots of squish.
For more formal footwear Hotter are great: very light, very soft leather, supportive and squishy insole. Just bought two pairs of 'Jewel' ballet pumps from Hotter (for work wear) and they're lovely looking and comfortable. Their 'County' and 'Pixie' boots are nice too.(Unfortunately a lot of Hotter styles aren't that attractive).
I don't rate Clarks (too heavy, too hard).

@FannyCornforth I agree that Hotter Pixie boots are great and look good (and I have six pairs of them in different colours) and I thought nothing could be comfier - until I tried the Whisper boot. Just putting them on makes me feel like bouncing around. They feel better than bare feet.

Some Hotter styles are grannyish though. And some aren't as comfy as you would imagine. But Whisper is amazing!

You need to be correctly measured and fitted for shoes. Different brands and styles fit differently, just like clothes.

Hotter - great for comfort and standard to wide fit. They go up to 3E and do half sizes (if you order at the beginning of the season.)

Easy B - specialist wide fit shoes. They also do half sizes. Some of the shoes are designed for people with 'deformities' of some kind. Sorry I can't think of a better word for it. Bunions, arthritic goes that have changed shape, toes longer than big toe and any lumps and bumps. They use splash proof stretchy fabric in the most common areas needed, and leather to still provide stability. These really are great shoes.

Cosy feet - very similar to Easy B but cheaper. Easy B price -£79 a similar style of shoe would be £49. Not as sturdy and don't wear as well. But the do the job.

Ecco - like Hotter shoes but more expensive. Better quality leather and super comfy from day 1. More stylish and popular with 'hipsters' whereas Hotter is more popular with the Blue Rinse Brigade. I say that as a 30 something wearer of Hotter shoes!

Sorry to slightly side track but can anyone recommend narrow fitting comfy shoes?

Narrow comfy shoes is a really tough one. Under catered for by the wide fit market. Wait till you're 89 and get lymphedema, regular shoes will fit you. As for now, I'm out of options. Sorry.

I know. It's hopeless! I wear over pronation running trainers in a narrow fit most of the time but I wish I could have nicer footwear

Clark's tri genic range is really comfy- and styles are ok.

I have fairly narrow feet and I'm fine with Hotter. They're not ultra narrow though ...
