Currently holidaying in Orkney. Oodles of tourist merchandise with slogans on about how you are posh if you holiday in Orkney. Is this true? Didn't think we were that posh!

Claiming to be posh is very common.

HeyMicky · 19/08/2018 12:10

^ This. Also using the word posh

DayBefore · 19/08/2018 12:11

Examples? Photos?

DolorestheNewt · 19/08/2018 12:12

Clearly not, if it's somewhere that has loads of tourist merchandise. Other than that, OP, what's it like there? (I'm being genuine!)

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/08/2018 12:32

Well I'm not posh and I'm going next year. I hope they let me in.

OllyBJolly · 19/08/2018 12:38

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!

It's everywhere. You can get

I'm posh
-I'm from Skegness/Harrogate/Upper Longtown....merchandise everywhere

It's just something that sells, it's not about Orkney.

thelionessqueen · 19/08/2018 18:20

At the risk of outing myself..I live in Orkney .. and I have not seen this ....😏😏

Septima · 19/08/2018 18:26

I’m dead common cos I go to Fort William Grin

MrBloomsLeftVeg · 19/08/2018 18:27

Hahaha. I work along the nc500 and the folk calling in heading for Orkney are certainly not posh!

Rebecca36 · 19/08/2018 18:29

News to me. Pay no attention to that.
Go the Maldives or, better still, Mustique instead. Very egalitarian places ;).

auntyflonono · 19/08/2018 18:56

DelorestheNewt Orkney Islands are fab! It helps considerably if you are interested in Neolithic history, naval history or beautiful coastal scenery/walking.

I saw a mug like that yesterday but it said Seahouses rather than Orkney. Seahouses aint posh.

MervynBunter · 19/08/2018 23:37

My Dad went to Orkney when he was in the Navy. Says it was the only place where no one on board asked for shore leave.

xsquared · 19/08/2018 23:46

We went on holiday to Orkney last summer. Not sure what being posh has anything to do with it though! I do recall a place called "Twatt" and seeing lots of "Twatt" mugs, signs etc in Kirkwall.

This makes me smile! One member of my family felt like this about Orkney too!

Here's the website

eyycarumba · 20/08/2018 14:49

I was there last week and saw nothing like it! Like another PP said - I was more interested in the 'Twatt' souvenirs
