Kids love scrabble! What other games to get?

I found an old scrabble set in the loft and the kids haven't stopped playing it.
Any suggestions for any other games they might enjoy?
Had so much fun with them last few days, am thinking of setting up a games night once a week.

Boggle? Monopoly? Cluedo? Lots of oldies.

When you are playing Scrabble with kids, do you play normally? I'm never sure whether to play words they'd probably not even heard of or go easy on them?

Subbuteo - best game ever!

WhatALump · 19/08/2018 10:25

UNO. My kids love it

ineedaholidaynow · 19/08/2018 10:25

How old are they?

Jinglebells99 · 19/08/2018 10:26

Another vote for bananagrams!

Kinraddie · 19/08/2018 10:31

Labyrinth, Scotland Yard, Monopoly

Urbanbeetler · 19/08/2018 10:32

Cards - rummy, go fish, happy families - that sort of game?
That spinning dial which links a letter to a category or something like that?

DontCallMeBaby · 19/08/2018 10:33

Third Bananagrams - good fun an excellent for travel as it’s so small. We also usually take Dobble, Uno, Exploding Kittens and Fluxx - you didn’t ask for travel games, but it’s handy to have games that do travel well, and these are probably our main go-to games even at home.

Shadow when DD was younger I’d be more lax on the rules with her words in Scrabble - let her have proper nouns etc. I’d still play properly myself though. At 14 she’s held to adult standards - still tends to ask “is a word?” though.

Dibble drove me mad this year! Good game for quick kids though.

Urbanbeetler · 19/08/2018 10:33

Dobble Blush

Ishoos · 19/08/2018 10:36

Rummikub!

ineedaholidaynow · 19/08/2018 10:37

A normal pack of cards and maybe a book of card games. Whenever DS(13) comes back from scout camp/school residential he has learnt at least one new card game and card trick.

Favourite games here are:
UNO
Dobble
Forbidden Island
Monopoly
Sherlock Holmes
Risk
Star Wars Risk
Taboo
Countdown
Charades

Forgot:

Pass the Pig
Yahtzee
Chess

We also have quite a few logic games that can be played individually like
Rush Hour

Rummikub and we discovered Rummikub Word this Summer. So much fun, DD always requested it.

PanicAtTheCostco · 19/08/2018 10:59

12,10 and 7.

I do play normally Blush but I also help them if I see a good word they haven't spotted. Give them clues to the word.
