Not been opened yet but use by date is the 14th.
Are out of date chick peas very bad or ok?

No. Not houmous!

IHeartKingThistle · 19/08/2018 08:30

I had some houmous once that I didn't realise had turned and it tasted fizzy, if that helps! It was obvious that it wasn't right.

Impulsesealer · 19/08/2018 08:30

Oh no, is it very bad? I’m hungry!

No!! It goes all fizzy and separates, that’s too old, chuck it!

CarbieDoll · 19/08/2018 08:31

Definitely not with houmous can make you ill 🤢

bastardkitty · 19/08/2018 08:32

Definitely not. Hummous doesn't age well.

MuffinMad · 19/08/2018 08:33

If you can see through the outside of the tub and it looks as though it is separating then bin it. Also, agree with above poster, it does taste fizzy.

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/08/2018 08:38

Depends. Some supermarket hummus has a relatively short date of only a few days, but others have more like a few weeks. I assume the latter has more preservatives.

If it was the long date stuff and it looked OK, I'd taste a little bit, and if it tasted OK, I'd eat it.

megletthesecond · 19/08/2018 08:39

Possibly. I ate houmous with a use by date of 8th August yesterday. However it hadn't separated and I did a quick taste to make sure it didn't taste fizzy.
I have binned many pots of houmous that have gone off in the past.

funmummy48 · 19/08/2018 08:40

No, I'd bin it.
