Does anyone know anything about owning a boat on the Norfolk Broads?

Thinking about our retirement in a couple of years time (where has the time gone??) and are wondering about buying an old 4 berth Broads cruiser to spend our days on.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this, mainly in terms of costs etc. I have Googled it, but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. So obviously have turned to Mumsnet of course.

mooring is the main cost with narrow boats you either have to find a permanent mooring which they will charge an annual fee or keep moving and pay the overnight mooring charges sorry thats all i know

we are practising in a narrowboat for our retirement and waiting to see what happens with boating in the EU post brexit. Ideally we'll get a barge of some sort and daunder about Holland and France till we are old and infirm.

there's lots of groups on FB if you use that, all sorts of folks at all levels from permanent living aboard massive widebeam barges, to weekenders on tiny plastic/fibreglass things, continuous cruising to off grid to marina living
